Hi all,   I'm sitting here watching my upgrade to SAS get installed and seeing all the different languages for the Enhanced Editor being set up.  As I write all my code in one language (English), it would make my life a lot easier if I can just select it from a list right at the outset (plus save space!).  I saw the information below from the 9.4 FAQ, but if I only have limited space at the beginning, doing the local install then removing all the other languages isn't very practical.   Q. I do not need all the languages that are included with SAS 9.4 and would like to remove all but English in order to save disk space. What is the best way to remove the unwanted languages? A. With SAS 9.4, languages can be subsetted at download time or later using the SAS Deployment Wizard. I do a fair bit of work with ecological datasets trying to estimate population size using techniques like mark-repature modeling and occupancy estimation. I think it would be great if SAS has a proceedure for some of these types of models that did not require coding them up in PROC NLIN or PROC NLMIXED. It would be nice if I could read from and write to a spreadsheet that has OpenDocument format. The free software packages "LibreOffice" and "OpenOffice" use the OpenDocument-standard format Curently SAS can only handly CSV-file which then have to be laboriously importet/exportet from/to the spreadsheet. Can the scheduler be updated as follows:   1. I submit all jobs in the desired order 2. The scheduler "knows" when one job is completely done so it can start the next one. Is is especially critical when you have data dependencies.   Under the current setup, programmers are required to "guess" the amount of time it will take to do the job when placing them in the scheduler. It appears that a stored process object that is inserted into an EG project references the absolute metadata path (specific folder name and stored process name).  This is beneficial when you want to replace an existing stored process with a new stored process for all locations where that stored process is referenced.  However, this means that if the SAS folder path or stored process name changes, all references to that stored process now result in an error.  Having the option to reference a specific metadata id that is associated with a registered stored process would allow for organizational changes to the storage location of a specific stored process without destroying the stored process references in every EG project. ... Currently there is no option to remove the size and color measures from displaying on the data tip. This feature should be added as sometimes you want to display only controlled variables rather than variables that make the report. Additionally, only measures are allowed for color and size options. This should be enhanced so that user defined labels / formats of categorical variables can define the size and color of the bubbles on the map. Finally I think the size of the bubble should be allowed to be user configurable. The linear / magnitude option which is currently only present in data designed section and not in report designer section does not satisfy the requirements.   ... View more

Our team has run into an issue with loading data from SAS to Netezza through SAS EG for some time. When the load completes, SAS hangs until SAS finishes pulling the data back into the Output Data tab. This can be fixed by selecting the 'Maximum number of datasets to add to the project' to 0. SAS frezzes typically from 6-10 minutes regardless of the file size. SAS VA Cloud does not have the feature to automatically load the data from your machine into the VA Cloud instance. This is a vital requirement, because everytime there is an update in the file, we have to manually upload the file into cloud again. For example, "One-Way Frequencies", under Results and "Create data set with Freq...", this idea would mean adding a text box to this section of the dialog that would accept dataset options (for each analysis varaible) that either would be inserted in with the dataset options already generated or would override the defalut options.   Lables, indexes. drop/keep/rename variables could be added to the output dataset by the user, or whatever is allowed by the FREQ procedure.     ... A double click on a dataset from inside the Server List both puts a that dataset's shortcut in the current process flow and opens the dataset in a current view window. Some datasets or views take a long time to load; for instance- SASHELP.VTABLE, especially when a user has many files and LIBNAMEs defined. Please add a button and/or a shortcut key that will cancel the current loading of a dataset into the viewing window, leaving the behavior of adding the shortcut to the process flow as is. A message displayed in the window stating that the loading operation had been cancelled by the user would be proper to have if such a loading was cancelled. ... View more

Add a BY task role to the Summary Tables Task dialog.  OR make it so that the currently present "PAGES" task role generates a "BY" statement in the submitted code.   Essentially the TABLE statement allows the procedure to be done "by" page, but having a BY statement sometimes increases effeciency of the procedure and sometimes enables processes to run with out memory errors. ...
