In the golden days when I used SAS desktop, I had a few icons to launch SAS, which used the -AWSTITLE (application work space title) option to give them specific names. The command behind the shortcut would be similar to:  sas.exe -autoexec auto.sas -awstitle 'Project1' This meant that when I was running several sessions (i.e. all of the time) the task names in the task bar allowed me to switch to the project I wanted to look at. The Data Base I'm using only has 125,000 rows. Each row has an individual ID. I would like to use a Text Input prompt for my report but SAS VA 7.3 cannot process such a large set of data. I can, nonetheless, type in an ID but it will only be taken into acount if I "do" something else like change to another section.   I would very much like to enter my ID choice to filter my graph without having to change section.   Thanks in advance.   ... I have tended away from Tree Maps in SAS because you can only show the categorical value(s). On a pie chart you can include the actual value and the actual value as a percentage. Perhaps these could be included for tree maps or possibly allow the user to indicate if a data tip can be visible on the tree map without the need to hover over the tile. ... View more

When using the search facility in SAS LIneage 3.1 you are provided with only the Name / ID and Type,  This becomes a bit useless when you work with a large warehouse where you have multiple sources of the same varaible name.   The suggestion would be to put the path also onto the search screen to allow easier searching and selection of items. ... When having a VA report with 2 sections and 2 data sources (let’s say datasource1 and datasource2), and containing the following: in section 1 a prompt from datasource1, a chart from datasource2 and an interaction between the prompt and the chart based on 2 columns (col1 and col2) in section 2 a prompt from datasource1, a chart from datasource2 and an interaction between the prompt and the chart based on 2 other columns (col3 and col4) When trying to change the columns for the second section, the columns for the first section also get changed from col1 and col2 to col3 and col4. It would be very useful if the report sections would be able to act independently and to set different interactions that affect only the current section of a report. va 7.3 at this time i can only show descriptive data about a restaurant, item, customer, etc. in a table across a very wide row. i know that VA is not a report builder but the ability to show details about  a customer would be very helpful these details are data items such as,  name,address, city, state,zip,phone,fax,email,etc.   this data object could be designed to only show data from one record.   it would be in an info window and allow many data items to be show in a small amount of space.   thanks ... For recurring campaigns if the table names could make use of parameters it would help create an archive for each run. For example of occurrence number was a paramter available a tablename could be something like 'newstorecampaign&occurrence..txt'   I have a case where the printer is requesting a file to be split up as different creatives use different envelopes. If each export could have a filter it would be much simpler than individual communications. Not to mention with MOMA multiple communications are already being used simply for offers. The more functionality with a communication node the better. Using our case as an example export1 would have all records that get a Welcome envelope and export2 would have all records for customers that receive a regular envelope.  ... View more

The SASGSUB facility is used to submit batch jobs to a SAS grid. Currently, the SAS job is immediatly dispatched for execution.    An option with SASGSUB that specifies a date and time when the job is dispatched for execution could be added   Such an option does exist with Platform Computing’s bsub command (the -b option) and it matches exactly the requirements of this idea.   Cron could be used as an alternative but it is not an integrated solution. With the –b option, a job becomes a recognized Grid job as soon as it is scheduled. Hence, when you run the bjobs command, you will see all the jobs that have been scheduled for execution along with their assigned jobid. A scheduled job can also be cancelled with the bkill command.   This idea does not propose to replace Platform Process Manager (PM) since it should continue to be used for scheduling complex production jobs. But it rather introduces a simple and straightforward way to schedule a single batch job in an "adhoc" fashion. ... We export to Teradata on a regular basis. It would be great to have the ability to append to a table after replacing previously placed data. So the campaign data that was exported yesterday will have it's export date. Todays campaign data will have todays date. If it needs to be re-executed todays data could be deleted but yesterdays would be preserved. Similar to how contact history is stored except that it would be purged. Contact history doesn't store custom attributes at a subject level  which is part of why this is sought. This would be a function added to the Append option.   The Truncate table option is to help when writing to a table where the admins have restricted access to the SAS CI Service account to not be able to drop a table. Instead it would truncate it and re-populate. This could be an option as part of Replace (Replace table or Truncate to Replace data in the existing table).    Thanks, ... View more

In the CI Community @chicoscai had asked if it was  possible to create Shared Control Groups. I too am searching for the functionality in CIS 6.4. It appears that control groups are only created out of a given segment. My department is manually lining up several test groups with a single control group for the Analytics Team. It would be great if the linking between Control Group and multiple Marketing Cells was possible.   Say for example if a split node could have a hold out group that is linked to all of the cells that come out of the split node. Or to have a control group node that would be able to look at all cells downstream that land in a communication node and record a link to them.   Thanks. ... View more
