Hi @vula 1.how the data will be colocated in Hadoop. The 9 FAQs about SAS VA paper may be able to answer some of your questions. Here's the video of the talk. 2. Where the calculations for all these tranformations will happen. It can be a mixture of some being in the SAS DI/EG and some in SAS VA - depending on what makes sense for the report. You don't want all of your calculations in your dataset. 3. How to load the updated records from hadoop environment to LASR memory. There are multiple methods - those are discussed in the paper above. You should also read the LASR Admin manual for more specific guidance.

Your assumption is correct - a stored process does not make use of the LASR server. If you implement VA using stored processes then VA just becomes an uber fancy web portal. Without knowing more specifics - I don't know why SAS VA could not do scenerio analysis you describe.

Here's one other post about the Autoload process but its on the geeky admin side. The point of this article is that the Autoload process is checking for a timestamp change on the dataset. So if you make changes to the dataset - the Autoload process does not re-load the LASR until it sees the timestamp has changed. Thanks for the mention @JuanS_OCS.

This is from my own experience. For SAS VA 7.1 - the Autoload Process would not consistently start the LASR server from the script for no particular reason. This feature works better in VA 7.3. I manually start the LASR servers for SAS VA 7.1. Here's an overview of the SAS Autoload process and requirements for setting it up. The LASRADM user who has full admin rights to the LASR Server and the autoload scheduled job is associated with this account.

The permissions on the Autoload folder are not set to allow the user to register data there. They need write permissions to the folder and most likely to the host system as well. I suggest you read the SAS VA Administrator's Guide for more information about how to set the folder permissions.

You can establish the dependancy but I'm not aware of a way to disable it. What are you trying to do? Maybe there is a workaround?

The reference lines have limited functionality as you have discovered. I want to use a parameter to control them - maybe that will make it into a future release. 🙂

While not as elegant and not the solution you asked for ... we solved the problem by adding to the title in the Properties tab "TITLE (Click the ? icon to see a list of prompts)". The users understood what to do. 🙂
