I have a bunch of SAS files in a directory, that I'm running using sas-viya at the command-line with. Here's the command line I use:   sas-viya batch jobs submit-pgm --context default --wait-results --pgm basic_digits.sas   I have two product suggestions that would reduce some friction:   First, I end up with a bunch of JOB folders with undistinguished names. For example here are three in the folder right now: JOB_20240510_011340_087_1 JOB_20240514_201600_284_1 JOB_20240514_202431_319_1   Without going inside of them... which of those was used to run basic_digits.sas, which was used to run advanced_digits.sas, and which was something else?   I would like to be able to provide a parameter to sas-viya that adds something after the JOB_ , and a way to default to having the name of the SAS program there. I would like something like "--results-dir-prefix" that would create this: JOB_basic_digits_20240510_011340_087_1   I *could* create one "output_{}" folder for each file and use "output_basic_digits" with --dir flag, but I wish for something where I don't have to modify the command line in two places for each job with different filenames [high susceptibility to human error]. You could also use the job name from --job-name, but that still suffers the "two command line edits" problem.   Second, "--context default" shouldn't be necessary. It seems proc import can retrieve data from Excel if the data is in a sheet by itself using the "sheet=" statement, known range i.e., "A1:C10", or named range using the "range=" statement.  What I don't see is an easy way to import the data if it is an Excel Table.  Something like a "table=" statement in the code below to accomplish this would be extremely helpful.  I apologize if this already exists, I couldn't find anything.  Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter.   proc import out= WANT datafile= "C:\ExcelFile.xlsm" dbms= EXCEL replace; TABLE= "TBL"; run; ... "Start Page" currently contains two blocks of items in SAS Enterprise Guide - "Pinned Items" and "Recent Items".   The "Recent Items" section should be split into "Recent Programs" and "Recent Datasets" based on the type of item being referred to. Each section should be selectable for "viewing" either in the "Start Page" (e.g. grouping drop down) or in SAS Enterprise Guide's menu (Tools > Optons") so that they are hidden or visible. Prometheus currently only tracks active jobs, with no visibility into completed ones. Once jobs finish, their status information from the Workload Orchestrator is not available to prometheus, limiting post-completion monitoring and analysis. There have been quite a few spam questions over the past few months where it took sometimes days until they got removed.   Proposal Implement an automated process that moves questions from the visible list to some hidden queue for investigation if marked by multiple users an inappropriate content.  To avoid that this process can get misused: Only include users that marked the question if they are not New Users but already on a certain level (to exclude fake users).   And just thinking: Eventually request from New Users for their first few post some additional identification step when posting a question to make it a bit harder to automate posting such questions. ... SAS is responsible for a huge number of users in our organization, and there is not an easy way for administrators to post messages to users upon connection to our back end services across all the various UI's.  It would also be nice to have a "stub" service that could be left running for maintenance notification.   It would be good upon connection to a Meta server to have a way to post a message before, and after authentication in a standard way. It would also be good to provide real-time announcements.   Message pre-authentication: "There will be maintenance on Saturday from 4:00pm to 7:00am."  Message post-authentication: "Due to issues with the NAS interface, there may be slow connections when browsing the file system." Real time/Flash messages: "The system will go down in 45 minutes for patching."   (in this scenario it would be nice to stop allowing new connections, and then gracefully quit running sessions to acquiesce)   It would also be nice to provide a system is down for maintenance message.   Perhaps the client could default to checking a simple web service on the meta server for maintenance notification.   HTTP/HTTPS providing a response of: Maintenance: "The SAS environment is currently down for maintenance; SAS will be available by 7am ET."   Client could show "The SAS environment is currently down for maintenance; SAS will be available by 7am ET."   If you use a simple HTTP/HTTPS interface, then you can use a DNS failover or a simple web service on the host to provide information when the service is down.  (Even a simple Python http service 'cd /sas/maintenance; python -m SimpleHTTPServer 80') ... As far as I understand, there is currently no option to use explicit pass-through with cloud data exchange. This is a major drawback for customers migrating to Viya, that over the years have made extensive use of this functionality on the SAS 9.4 environment. One of the main reasons explicit pass-through has been used, is to make use of non-standard SQL functions available from the database vendor. When using SET datasetname POINT= idnumber   the user will create an infinite loop, unless there is a STOP; statement that is executed. It is easy to forget this, or "hide it in some logics.      Of course an experienced SAS user NEVER markes this mistake - until the other day.... Hi! Proc Means and Proc Univariate at present lack fast and accurate methods for calculation of quantile, means and standard deviation for large sets of data. In the paper "Fast and Accurate calculation... "  by Anders Sköllermo I point at a possible method.   Suggestion: Look at this method. Develop it further to be a general method and implement it in the SAS procedures. Future: I think that this method can also been very good when using several computers or parallel computers or computer networks   and also on streaming data.  However the method has not at al been tested for this.
