Cynthia describes the sandwich of code that EGuide wraps around the task code. Is there a way to 'turn off' the sandwiching? When I insert the OPTIONS ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE; ODS RTF; in my code node, I suddenly get two (identical) RTF documents in the project and the process flow looks really messy. The second file is named c:\windows\system32\sasrtf.rtf (it seems a strange place and potential security flaw) for every task. There is only one file, the last task run 'wins', but the icon is there for every task. Turning off the sandwich may not be the right way to solve the problem, so I'm open to other ideas. Yes. When SAS started (and was still known as the "Statistical Analysis System") that's the way almost all data came in. If it really is fixed columns with spaces, you can just list the variables in order. Check the documentation for the INPUT statement for details of addressing character variables and how to address missing data. Another approach would be to read the data as one long character string, use the Perl regular expressions (in SAS) to replace every set of one or more blanks with a TAB, write it out, and then re-read it as tab delimited. I'm not too keen on a BoxPlot for 10 data points. It's trying for too much information. I'd suggest a scatter plot where you plot the mean with a separate symbol from the data points. You can do this by creating a new dataset that contains the original data and another column with just the mean for each group. You can most easily do this using the MEAN aggregate operator in PROC SQL, but you could also do it using PROC means, outputting the 5 records, and SETting the data back together. The you would use PROC GPLOT and the PLOT statement would include the /OVERLAY option, something like PLOT raw*group mean*group/OVERLAY; You will need to mess with your SYMBOL statements. The downside of this method is that data with duplicate values of 'raw' disappear. "Jittering" adds some random scatter to the data so all the points still show. Say you have a 3 level variable,Orig, that you want to code as dummies. Say, also, that level 1 is the baseline or standard and levels 2 and 3 are the levels of interest. For 'reference cell' coding, Dummy2 would have 0 for orig=1 and 1&3 for orig=2. Dummy3 would have 0 for orig=1&2 and 1 for orig=3. Josh has a point. You could use SAS in the background to build the regression equations (say run every night) and then store the coefficients to a table. The web ap could then just do the arithmetic to get the expected values for the specific parameters set by the customer. In SAS 9.1.3, there are some changes to how SAS does sorts in a multiprocessor environment. Read the what's new for SAS 9.1.3. SAS uses a good bit of disk space for temporary storage during a SORT. You may just be observing that disk use, rather than OS paging. You might also try re-coding the sort-merge into a PROC SQL procedure. SQL uses a totally different algorithm.
