AFAIK, finding all of the places where passwords need changing is dependent on both your SAS architecture and the installed SAS products. So there is no documentation that can cover all of the possibilities. As @sangavis37 points out it will be a matter of investigation, trial and error. I don't think this would be related to a SAS release version. Typically a "keepalive" is needed because some external device is actively monitoring for and closing idle connections. For example the workspace server keepalive is usually used to prevent a firewall/vpn from closing the TCP connection between Enterprise Guide and the Workspace Server due to lack of activity on that connection. So, either Oracle is closing the session because it's not seeing any activity on it passed some timeout, or an external device like a firewall is doing this. ... View more

Thank you for looking at my post. I found the issue. The messages file for the OS provided a clue that there was an issue with authentication from Metadata. I discovered that the setuid script needed to be run in SASFoundation in the metadata tier. Once this was run everything started working. ... View more

Perhaps I wasn't clear... I know what a SAS partner is. I am (or rather my company is) a SAS partner.    I was asking about the difference between the two types of registrations for SGF. What is included when using the partner registration that is not included when using the user registration (or vice versa)?   I mistakenly registered as a user and I'm trying to find out if it's worth the hassle to try and have it changed to a partner registration.   Regards   Andreas ... @titan31 , you will see, yes, Linux will be a great advantage in many ways.   If you don't see your requirements to grow, and the system performs well, I see no added value in a distributed environment either.   Besides my personal preference on having Linux on the server side as much as possible, I have been experiencing during the past years the fact that SAS software, especially SAS VA, will be always released earlier, and with more functionality, on Linux (in especial RHEL) rather than on other operating systems. ...
