Dear Sir/Madam,   I have this longitudinal that, I want to reduce to cross-sectional data. If Lmin and Rmin are present together with ICU      LOS     Age we keep this row and delete all other rows for this id. If Lmin and Rmin are present but not any of  ICU      LOS     Age , we keep the values, that is the first time they are recorded.  If Lmin and Rmin are not recorded but ICU      LOS     Age  are recorded, we keep the values recorded to fit where missing. If Lmin and Rmin are not recorded together with ICU      LOS     Age we delete (he data has other additional variables.   I have been struggling with one sas coding from encounter level to patient level. Please help.   So my data is like:   ID dx_encounter level 1 1 1 0 1 0 1 1 2 0 2 0 2 0 3 1 3 0 3 0   I want to create the variable "dx_patient level" where if each patient ID received any "1" from "dx_encounter level", then "dx_patient level" should be 1.     I have a quick question on separating numbers and units in SAS.     So the data I'm having is "10 MG-25MG", I want to separate "10" with "MG-25MG".   I have tried  data want; txt = "100/50 mg medicin"; c = compress(txt,"0123456789.,/ ","K"); *K is to keep the chars you specified.; txt_b = compress(txt,"0123456789.,/"); run;   But my output is "1025", not "10". Hello, I have these two categorical variables; Obesity takes three values 1, 2, 3, and medication takes three values 1,2, 3.
