I live on my docked explorer. I'm constantly viewing my datasets and I can't imagine not having such easy access to them, not having to flip off the editor screen.

Looks like my SQL where clause is being truncated which causes an error when I run it in SAS. The syntax is correct when checked. Having just started with a new company, I'm coming across people who uncheck the default docked option for the small explorer and results window on the side. Thus I am coming up against programs statements that run over the right side of my window in SAS. As my background includes working on v5 on MVS, this habit historically caused a lot of problems with loose text not seen. The danger here is going to be repeated I fear. So as a forum who works with the docked option - i.e. the default option - and who does not? Should I be changing my habits and lose the functionality of the docked windows which I have come to value so much? If the SAS world is going undocked, us dockers need to change.

Dear All, I am about to join as a Clincal Data Programmer (SAS) in an MNC. I don't have much bacck ground in SAS, but the company will provide SAS training. But am pretty good in programming (PERL / C / Java / SQL). Could you guys help me out by directing me to a good strating point to learn SAS programming (BASE/STAT/MACRO). What all modules I should lear for Clincal Data Analysis using SAS ? Is SAS learning edition a good place to start ? Please reply me, S Khadar

Ashutosh and Jason, I have just started with a system that has many, many fields - Ashutosh you might be in the same boat. Correct me if I'm wrong here. We don't have a situation of X Y Z but rather 100's of fields, which makes programs lengthy and difficult to manage. Arrays make short work of repeated calculations and macro variables containing the variable names also shortcut a lot of it. But whatever route you take, you still end up with these long, unwieldy lists somewhere. I'm taking the attitude of more rows less columns - trying the reduce the variable lists to categories in columns. Use of proc transpose can interchange between the tables. Taking this different approach makes programming much easier and shorter - have you tried thinking in this way? I've also returned a 75% space saving with this method - this is the business motivation of taking this route. Its often difficult justifying code changes without any obvious end-result. Jason your thoughts?

thanks david, but the problem still occur. when sas generate the html code have a tab like this when i convert the code to php this tab is not recognized and the graphic is not displayed. the ods output is like version 8, no problem but de graph does not appear.

I am reading a text book published in 94 and it mentioned a procedure called REG for regression. Unfortenately it seems that REG is no longer used in SAS9.0. My question is what is the equivalent procedure in doing regression analysis in SAS9? Thanks! gimmy

hi, i´am a sas 9.1.3 user i have some graphs on a customer portal, when i generate the graphs on version 8.2 and publish them converted to php the graphs are displayed without problems, but when i generate the graph on version 9.1.3 and published via php the graphs do not display anything, this is because sas version 9 add a header at the top of the html file as a xml and php does not recognize that, can i do something to prevent to sas not add this instruction line? if i generate the graph and modify this line as a comment the graph is display but i have hundreds of graph yo do this manually. thanks

My issue is I am trying to create a report (using PROC REPORT), output to either PDF or RTF. The style I'm using is journal but what I would like to do is to stack them differently and make a line between groupings. I can get the line the way I want it in the output screen but not on my ODS output, and I can't figure out how to get the two columns stacked. What am I doing wrong? My report currently outputs this way (it's more indented but I can't replicate the output here) CURRENT ISSUES Q1. LOCATION RATED A 5 Q2. RESOURCES RATED A 3 FUTURE ISSUES Q3. SUPPLY RATED A 9 What I would like the output to look like is this (if possible with a line or space between the two headings). CURRENT ISSUES Q1. Locations Rated a 5 Q2. Resources Rated a 3 ---------------------------------- FUTURE ISSUES Q3. Supply Rated a 9 Q4. Demand Rated a 3 ------------------------------------- Q6. Overall Summary Rated a 5 Any suggestions? Yep, would be nice - doesn't work though. Lets see what SAS comments are. If you're having problem with long variable lists and you know the order in your file (variable number) you can specify firstVar--lastVar which will select all variables in between the two specified.
