Agreed.  I think the user is raising this as an "issue" for two reasons.   1. It's different than how PC SAS behaves 2. They like seeing the log scroll by so that they know their program is still running   I've advised the user that this is just the way Studio operates and why.  Change is hard for some.  ... Yes, I understand the resource issue and why it is implemented this way.  Curious if the size can be increased.    It really is a case of PC SAS users getting used to and understanding why things work differently in Studio. Even though the max size to scroll in Studio is reached, the user can still open the log using the link.     It'd be nice to be able to adjust the max log size, but with warnings to the admins that it could cause the browser to crash. ... It depends on your setup.  What is the OS for your grid nodes?  Are you using shared binaries and SAS config?   For Linux grid: If you have both shared binaries (SAS & LSF) and shared config then follow these steps.   (note: I'm typing this from memory, so verify I haven't missed a step)   Mount the shared drives for the binaries (SAS & LSF) and the configs (SAS & LSF) Mount all data drives Run the LSF Command 'hostsetup' Run 'lsadmin reconfig' - Answer Yes to reconfigure all servers Run 'badmin reconfig' - Answer Yes to reconfigure all servers If you have load balanced the Workspace Server, then add the new server Restart all object spawners when you have an outage time to pickup the changes for the load balancing ... We have unixODC configured to Connect to Oracle 11g and have successfully tested connecting to our Oracle database using isql.  We are able to select rows from tables successfully.   We have SAS/Access to ODBC licensed, we added the setting of environmental variables to the sasenv_local file and have confirmed they are set correctly.  We can successfully issue a libname statement and then run:   proc datasets library=MyOraODBC;      * where MyOraODBC is the libref for our ODBC library; run;   But, when we try to access a table in the library we get an error message that the table does not exist even though it was listed as a table by proc datasets, and we were able to query the table from isql.   Do you have any ideas or suggestions on where to look for the problem?   Thanks! ... Webwork needs to be set to a location that is shared to each grid node when using grid launched workspace servers.   Just FYI, here is some more information on webwork.   It is the default library when using Studio's interactive mode.  In interactive mode, each program gets a workspace server session, and all of the workspace server sessions from your Studio session share the webwork.  In a SAS grid when using grid launched workspace server sessions the workspace sessions can run on any of the grid nodes, therefore the directory used for webwork needs to be in a shared location accessible from each grid node.   See this blog entry for further information:  http://blogs.sas.com/content/sgf/2016/09/21/sas-st udio-tips-for-sas-grid-manager-administrators-wher ...  ... Thank you @Kalind_Patel.   Yes, I am aware that webwork is available across workspace server sessions.  So, if you have multiple workspace server sessions in a SAS grid, then webwork will need to point to a physical directory that all grid nodes can access because workspace server sessions could start on any node.  Is that correct? ... Configure SAS MidTier Firewall

I have the task of configuring the SAS Intelligence Platform on Redhat Linux 6.x across three servers and need to have the firewalls (iptables) configured on each server.  So far it seems like we are set for the Metadata & Compute servers and now we are configuring the MiddleTier server.    I have a question based on what is stated in the Middle Tier Administration Guide on page 45:  "To prevent these issues, you can modify the firewall configuration to permit traffic to Java applications. Alternatively, you can manually update the SAS configuration to ensure that ports in the appropriate range are available through the firewall."   Then in the next paragraph the doc it discusses setting the JVM options to accomodate a firewall.  The question that I have is whether or not I will need to open the ports in the firewall based on the ports used for the JVM settings?  I think so, but confirmation would be great.   Maybe the "Alternatively" sentence above is meant to refer to opening the large port range:1024-65535     ... Hi Amy,   We work with many SAS programmers coming from PC SAS to SAS Studio so any features or best practices for using SAS Studio as a SAS programmer would be great.  One item that they would really like more information on, and that would be a good topic, is using the new batch submit feature of SAS Studio & checking on the status of your batch programs.    Thanks,   Scott ...
