How to become professional and more efficient using SAS Visual Analytics
Control appearance and initial states using URL links and parameters
As you probably know, a SAS Visual Analytics report can be accessed via its individual URL and that can be very useful if you want to build a web-based report portal with links to different SAS Visual Analytics reports/dashboards. However, you can also control both appearance and initial state of a report using URL parameters.
In this video, we will take a closer look into the built-in feature Copy Link and what it can do for us. I will showcase different use-cases how you can control report appearance using built-in parameters and custom defined parameters to control initial state of a report.
1. Introduction - How to generate a report/dashboard URL link (0:39)
2. Control report appearance using built-in parameters (1:36)
3. Dynamically filter a report using an URL parameter value (3:30)
4. Preselect a drop-down list using an URL parameter value (6:31)
5. Other “Copy link” options (8:52)

How to become professional and more efficient using SAS Visual Analytics
An elegant IsSet solution
In one of my previous videos, IsSet for Success, one of my use cases was how to make a busy line chart less busy. Just a few weeks ago, my Norwegian colleague Tom Arne Orthe (@TomArne) mentioned a similar use case, but with a more elegant solution that I really want to share with you all.
In this video, I'm using the same busy line chart use-case. But, instead of displaying nothing when no selections have been made, a line representing a total will be shown instead.

Working with URL links
URL links are often used to access web services or other resources from a SAS Visual Analytics report/dashboard. In this video we are going to look at some use-cases how URL links can be used, such as accessing a web service and how to access other resources.
During this video, I’ll use three different use-cases to inspire you how URL links can be used and created in SAS Visual Analytics.
1. How to access a web service such as Google Search (0:30)
2. How to dynamically generate URL links based on your data (2:30)
3. How to dynamically create URL links to access PDF files (5:29)

IsSet for Success
This time I want to introduce a nice little function called IsSet, very powerful and adds new possibilities in SAS Visual Analytics.
IsSet can be used to determine if a parameter is set or not. But when is IsSet useful? In this video, I showcase some examples to introduce how IsSet works and when it can be useful.
1. Short IsSet function introduction (0:34)
2. Using IsSet in a calculated data item (1:47)
3. Forcing a control object not to load any data with IsSet until mandatory selections are done (3:56)
4. Making a messy chart less messy using IsSet (6:22)

The Mystery behind the Hidden Role
You might have seen it, the hidden role that can be assigned in some objects in SAS Visual Analytics.
But when is the hidden role useful? In this video, I have three different use cases where the hidden role can be very useful and valuable:
1. When using calculations that are dependent on other columns (1:05)
2. When using a non-displaying category in a display rule (2:52)
3. When you need to add non-displaying columns as parameters into an URL link (04:31)

A smart and dynamic way to create intervals/groups based on a numeric column
Sometimes we want to transform a numeric column into a category or group-by column. In this video I will show an interesting approach to create dynamic and flexible intervals/groups based on a numeric column.
During this video, I will show-case different calculations/expressions and I have put all of them into a PDF document (see attached PDF file above, upper left corner), just follow the instructions and copy them into your environment.
