Have a read of SAS(R) 9.2 Intelligence Platform: Security Administration Guide to check whether you have IWA correctly configured. I saw that you are running 9.1.3, but documentation for IWA for that version is less easy to come by. Personally, I would be looking at upgrading any - both Windows 2003 and SAS 9.1.3 were released over 10 years ago. The omaconfig option only relates to saving of credentials for inbound connections (connections to the metadata server) - so doesn't apply to your situation, as you are not entering credentials for the metadata server host but relying on a windows token. Next, the host on which your SASApp workspace server is running on should be in the same authdomain as the metadata server (defaultauth). Then do the checks suggested by SASKiwi. If you are still being prompted, check your Object Spawner log file for some clues. Jaap highlights some interesting points for a generalised world but much is not relevant to you - configuring trusted web authentication doesn't help with Enterprise Guide and the sasauth module doesn't exist on windows. What you are attempting is a good practice, as it removes any dependency on passwords stored within metadata (and any perceived vulnerability this might bring), instead you using Windows' ability to pass kerberos tokens around between machines.

SSO for Enterprise Miner in SAS 9.3 is not supported, regardless of whether you are using Java WebStart (as described) or a locally installed Java client. Basically this is because Enterprise Miner does not connect through SAS Logon Manager within the mid-tier which is the element that would normally be configured for Trusted Web Authentication such as Web Report Studio and Portal. But is possible now with 9.4

You might want to read up on and have a play with Attachments. It is way of controlling the relative spacing and sizing of objects within a frame. For example, they can be used to prevent objects overlapping when the window is resized. Layout --> Attach --> Define Attachment. See Appendix 2 of http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/appdevgd/62709/PDF/default/appdevgd.pdf for more than you'd ever want to know on the subject.

In your OP you establish a SAS/Connect session. A SAS/Share Server is initiated on the 'remote' machine by executing PROC SERVER. SAS/Connect and SAS/Share are different licensable products and you may not have the latter licensed. Use PROC SETINIT (on the server) to determine whether you do or not. SAS/SHARE can be used to surface data to clients, if you want to execute SAS code on the server (compute logic) you would need SAS Integration Technologies licensed on the server.

How about page 41 of http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/oledbpr/65038/PDF/default/oledbpr.pdf ? It is dependent on you having a SAS/Share Server to connect to. -S

It is probably also a good idea to check that what you are doing - installing server software on a PC - is within the conditions of your SAS license.

This error message is typically as a result of operating system permissions rather than permissions within the Metadata Server.

You should certainly expect to return to a state of 13 users. Can you please share what commands you are issuing for steps #1 and #3. Please also check this link SAS(R) 9.3 Intelligence Platform: System Administration Guide, Second Edition and confirm that you are following these steps (and not getting a red cross). Unkie.

Hi akshatadeshpande, Have a look at the excellent contribution from Paul Homes - The important thing to appreciate is that Metadata Backup and Recovery utilities backup (and restore) the entire Metadata Server. So when you restore, you are rolling back all metadata to the point in time at which you took the back. If you want to perform a selective restore, you can use the SAS Configuration Wizard to construct a new/temporary Metadata Server into which you can restore a backup - you can then selectively export the item(s) you want to recover and then import just these items into your target server. However, it seems to me that you are failing at the first or second hurdle. The first hurdle of backing up the Metadata is quite tricky to fail at, so my guess is that the RESTORE is not actually working. If you can share here the exact steps you are going through, I am sure that somebody from the community will be able to help. BR, Unkie
