Hi. I am using SAS Viya 8.3. Using the text topics in SAS VA, I noticed we can upload additional stop list to remove certain terms from being analyzed. However, it's currently shown as "None Available". How do I create and employ my own stop list into SAS VA? A step by step guide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I am using SAS VA in Viya 8.3. I have created a calculated item for a field. Here's the end result: Before: 00SY1200 After applying text operators to extract middle values: SY12 So, with this new calculated item of 4 digit alpha-numeric values (eg. SY12, SY13), I want to use this as a left-join to another database (which has the 4 digit values and other relevant data). But when I want to do a data source join, I cannot find my calculated items; only original data fields are available. Is there any way to use the newly generated calculated items as criteria to do joins with databases?

Hi nigel, it works! Thank you very much. I thought the AND operator works only if warden and EMSC are in the same title, but i want to exclude titles that contain either or. Wow seems like rule for inclusion and exclusion interpret the operators differently. Mind boggling!

Hi Sam, Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately "Initially select first item" did not work; nothing was selected in dropdownlist#2, even when "Mailbox A" was selected in dropdownlist#1.

Hi, I have the following filters at Page Level: 1) Dropdown list #1 for Source with categories( Mailbox A, Feedback Form A, App A) 2) Dropdown list #2 for Medium with categories( Email, Web Portal, Agency App, Phone, Counter) So the above 2 will dictate other objects in the page, like charts, crosstab etc.....Here's the qn: When I choose Mailbox A at the Dropdown list#1, how can Dropdown list#2 automatically select Email? I can add an Advanced Filter in Dropdown List #2 (using IF..ELSE) to show only Email when Mailbox A is selected at #1, but showing doesn't mean selecting. How to get Email to be selected without users doing so? I am using SAS VA 8.3.

Hi Joy, I re-read your previous post and now understand what u mean by clicking on the object, make sure it has a black outline first before dragging it. I.e First click to select, second click to drag. I am so used to click and drag at the first instance in other interfaces. Will take a look at SAS Ballot. First time seeing this. But it's a pity that a useful feature (to see incoming actions) that was available previously would be removed in the new Viya.

Hi @Joy_SAS Thanks for the reply. A pity that incoming actions are no longer displayed. Would be a good feature to reinstate. As for moving the objects in the Actions Diagram, yes I clicked onto the objects and tried to drag them away (just like how I did so in SAS VA 7.3). But the objects just wouldn't budge. Not sure if using SAS Viya on a particular internet browser affects the performance or not.

At SAS VA 8.3.1, I know that I can go to Actions in the right pane to see if an object has any report links, page links and object links. However, here's the thing: it only shows one way. For example, Barchart1 at page 1 is linked to a ListTable1 at page 2. So if I select Barchart 1, go to Actions tab at the right panel, I can see that under "Page Links", ListTable 1 at page 2 is checked. The Action Diagram will also show arrow pointing to the said page. However, if I do the same steps for ListTable1 at page 2, it does not show that it is linked to Barchart1. Simply put, A is linked to B. I can check that A is linked to B. But I cannot check that B is linked from A. Is there a way to check links for both ways? Was using SAS VA 7.3 previously, and the Action Diagram shows links for both ways. Why is this not displayed in 8.3.1? Also in the Action Diagram in 8.3.1, sometimes the objects overlap over each other, so I cannot discern where the arrows are pointing at. I cannot move them apart. Any help?

Basically, just hit the Submit button in SAS Studio. When the run is completed, an Output tab will appear to show the outcome, like if there are any errors etc.

Im really new into these, so i dont know what to look for. If you're into analogies, im like a 3 year old toddler exploring the world and being curious. What may seemed obvious to adults may not be so for a toddler. Another one: i only see sql code being used. To me, coding might have certain operators that perhaps i can referenced. Perhaps an UPDATE(DATASOURCE) or sth. So its like ordering from macdonalds. I wanna Big Mac, and there's only that few ingredients that goes into it.. i could be wrong....but some guidance would be appreciated

My datasource at SAS Viya 8.1 is in a Sandbox environment, so my IT guy refreshes the data manually every day. He's away from work so the datasource is a few days old. As a power user, i can access SAS studio and SAS data studio, so where should i go to run the query to update my datasource? I see Proc Sql code when i enter SAS studio. What would the code to refresh data look like, and how do i run it?

Hi Jim. What if the user already know the exact case IDs, and just want to extract the details of them in the list table? (Hence no need for an range of results) Say the case IDs are 202001, 201901 and 201801. Is there a way to do so in a single search box? Or I would need three search boxes? The idea is to allow flexibility in the number of search terms, without being restricted by the number of search boxes.
