The IF statement is a EXECUTABLE statement. Just like an assignment statement. It executes for every iteration of the data step when the program flow gets to that part of the program. So in your simple data steps the IF statement will execute once for every observation read in by the SET statement. The RENAME statement is NOT an EXECUTABLE statement. It just helps the compiler set up the data step. So it let's SAS know that when it is ready to setup the output dataset(s) that the name in the new dataset should be the new name, not the name that the variable was referenced by while the data step was executing.

I saw similar things happening with EG 7.x when the number of displays or their resolution changed. Renamig the config file helped. Just go to %appdata%\SAS\EnterpriseGuide\7.1 and rename/delete WindowLocations.xml and maybe Settings.xml, OpenDlg and SaveDlg.

Hi @ForrestYao, In addition to the length (in bytes) of each of the five variables it also indicates their type: numeric (for character variables it would be $8 or $1 or ...) -- like in a LENGTH statement. In certain situations the "default length 8" would not apply and the "8" would be required to ensure length 8. Example: data have; array a[3] 4 cnt_ir_1-cnt_ir_3; run; data want; array cnt_ir_a{5} cnt_ir_1-cnt_ir_5; set have; run; Without the length specification in the second ARRAY statement the first three variables inherit their length 4 from dataset HAVE.

First off, to Sir who is that? I am a SAS Janitor. Okay, basically, I am concatenating a constant day value with '01' as the 1st day of the month. Since your range that you mentioned 2018 NOV-OCT2019. It's safe to assume the whole months starting from 01NOV2019 to 31OCT2019. Assuming you do not have a DATE or DAY variable with values of day of the month, the best bet is to have the 1st day of the month making it inclusive in the specified range. Of course, you do have the other 2. Therefore the concatenated string would look like 01NOV2018 etc. Then you convert the string to a numeric value using the INFORMAT date9. . I suppose everything else is straight forward plugging in the range within the WHERE clause. There's a paper from a few years ago from Chevell Parker presented at SAS Global Forum titled ringside seat and discusses the differnces between the two. However, ODS Excel has progressed since then, so I think you're stuck doing manual conversion. I believe most of your options are still available and ODS Excel is documented in the main SAS documentation now.

Try the RANGE option, but you need to include the Sheet name in the RANGE. If you don't know the end of the range just put a 0 to function as a wildcard. range="Sheet1$A1:0" I don't know if that's the exact format the range should be in, but hopefully that gives you the idea of what you need to do. The syntax of your dates is wrong. This works to shed old data and add new data: data PERM; set PERM (where = (MONTH_END_DATE >= '01JAN2016'd )) NEW; run; Don't forget to set the correct metadata for this permanent table (mainly: sorted order, indexes, compression, password protection) depending on your needs. The last step for the creation of permanent tables should be something like this: proc sort data=READY out =PERMANENT( compress=.. index=... alter=.. write=.. as needed ) presorted ; by MONTH_END_DATE; run; This makes your data safer from accidental erasure, and speeds up it use.
