thanks, may i ask one more question, i guess the real confusing part for me is when the if statement becomes effective? For example, the first query, rename happens after new_student1 is created, and it will not change table student_score, but when the if statement will happen? will it happen before or afte r the rename statement? because in new_student1, the gender attribute has already been renamed to sex, then why the if statement still says gender = M? much appreciated your reply! ... Hi all,   The following questions confused me a lot, I would like to understand the following codes, specifically, how they impact the results when I put the rename function on the different locations within the data step.    first piece: Data new_student1; set student; rename gender = sex; if name = 'jack' then gender = 'm'; run;   second piece: Data new_student2; set student (rename = (gender = sex)); if name = 'jack' then sex = 'm'; run;   third piece: Data new_student3  (rename = (gender = sex)); set student; if name = 'jack' then gender = 'm'; run;   Can anyone explain in detail how the code runs in sequence and what the results for each step are?   Much appreciated! Hi there,   I have a dataset with multiple variables for fiscal year 2019. One column called Year is a numeric variable eg 2018, 2019 etc. Another column called month is a character variable eg Oct, Nov, Dec etc. I need to generate a new dataset called fiscal year 2020 which contains everything from 2018 November to 2019 October. Hi there,   I have an example code, I would like to convert ods tagsets.ExcelXP to ods Excel because of my excel version. However, some options that used in tagsets are not available in ods Excel. proc export a dataset into certain cells of excel file

Hi there,   I have a dataset saved in a permanent library, I want to use proc export to export dataset into an excel file. That excel file is a template so there are some title/date at the very top of the sheet. I want to export my dataset starting row 7 for example. My code looks like: PROC EXPORT DATA = perm.dataset dbms=xlsx outfile= "&libnm./&file." label REPLACE; sheet="data";   RUN;   Is there any options in proc export to allow me to do that? Morning everyone,   This morning, I start my work by importing some dataset, however, it is so wired that when I just click start - import data, then the whole SAS EG screen just freeze, that I cannot click anywhere in SAS EG at all, and the import windows doesn't pop up (it usually just pop up a window to let me choose the file). I can still click elsewhere for other software, but for SAS EG, it just dead...I need to start task manager to force quit it......Could anyone help me figure this out?   Thanks   ...
