Hi. your option would might be using a EXECUTE statement in proc sql. It allows you to call stored procedures within your DBMS. But it has the following limitation (from on-line doc): "However, stored procedures with output parameters are not supported in the Pass-Through Facility." If your result set is other than just a return code (obtained by &SQLXRC and &SQLXMSG), I think you have to find another way to pass the result to SAS (using some other interface or store the result as an external file). In this case, would you consider to store any other value for your valid blank data? The size limit for SAS tables is not the issue here, they can at least be 2.1 TB in NTFS (if you are using FAT16/32, it might be a problem, see http://support.sas.com/kb/8/213.html). How large are your input tables (in bytes)? Exactly what kind of error messages are you getting? I believe this might have to do with disk space rather than RAM (even if large RAM will ease the burden of I/O). If you want a larger server with substantially more RAM, UNIX is the most reliable option, bit I think a Win 64-bit server will do as well. SPD Server is in many ways a brilliant product, but in the area of cartesian product, joins I don't think SPDS will do anything different than Base SAS SQL, there's nothing really to optimize in a true cartesian product join (I think...).
