One addition to yours: - Indeed, there are some advantages with the 64-bit version - If you make use of another language/locale rather than en_US: beware about 64-bit. I mean, it is not a big issue, but 32-bit version of EGuide is historically much more stable regarding NLS (national language support). - And if you still want to use EGuide 64 bit even with other language than en_US, no problem, but then if you experience any issue, you would like to contact SAS support (or just go to support.sas.com, because it is public information) in order to apply a couple of hotfixes/workarounds.

RGUL, The application server is the SASApp (probably called on this way). You can find a folder like that under /Config/Lev1 on the compute server (if you have more than 1 tier). And the sasv9_usermods.cfg you are looking for, should be the only one that is directly under SASApp folder.

Hi, well, I am not sure about other colleagues here, but I still cannot understand, exactly the problem. So there are 2 situations/status: you working in the office and you working at home. At first sight I would not say there should be a difference... What I don;t understand is what exactly means "the application once loaded starts fine". Do you mean that the VM machine is UP and it is showing the message that you can start making use of it and it shows the URL? I don;t understant what you mean when "it does not load". Any message in your IE or the VM? By the way, what I would check: - is the VM installed on your computer/laptop on both situations? Same installation? - do you wait until the VM is fully started and it shows the URL? - do you delete the browser cache (IE)? - if any of this works: do you have any specific configuration on your VMWare Player to be attached to any of your network cards? Is it making use of NAT?

hi, i can give you an initial estimate (based on nothing else but your raw data), like 100GB for data and 200GB for work and temp. You should also keep in mind the sizing for your users SAS folders. by the way, everything will depend on: the amount if your users prediction about the growth of your data other datasources more than raw data other variables specific for your business needs keep in mind the second consideration: the future. I would never advise to stick only to the present, but keep an eye on the future, so you won't have troubles with your disks in the close future: SAS data and requirements grows pretty fast!

Maybe this article could be of your interest: 36112 - Managing large SAS® data sets that exceed the maximum number of observations I don't know if your users are making use of Enterprise Guide or SAS Base. My first guess would go to the first option. In Enterprise Guide (I am not sure in 9.2 right now) in Tool-Options-Data-Performance, you should be able to set the number of rows to display. Ton, I think there are some good options for that requirement. A couple of them are the RTM (3rd Party software from IBM, same as LSF, but RTM is not maintained any more. But still good. And you don;t need a Grid License), and that SAS Environment Manager from SAS 9.4. SAS Downloads: Platform RTM (v 2.08) for SAS

As far as I know, you don't have that option in SAS 9.3. In SAS 9.4 you have advanced features, like new sasgsub, advanced Logging for all SAS Grid Components and SAS Environment Manager, that meybe I would do something with SAS Grid. In SAS 9.3 SAS MC you have a plugin for the Grid, but I think it does not show that information you are looking for, you still need to make use of your own process.

Well, maybe this is not your solution, but I my first guess would be that something is cached on the session of your web browser. Did you tried to close your SAS Web session, the web browser and then open it again, log in, and go to the WRS? You have other options to remove cache of the web browser. An example is, on IE, press Ctrl + F5.

By the way: be careful if you apply this workaround. You should be aware of all the dependencies when migrating to the "test"server, so you won;t overwrite anything you don;t want to in your real DTAP servers.

chackra: in your case: you can run again the SMU on 9.2 and then create a new 9.4 level in a completely standalone server (kind of test server, with no connection at all to shares from other servers), migrating the SMU 9.2 package into 9.4. Then, you can export from there and then import your security settings (users, groups, roles, ACTs, etc) into your real 9.4 server.

Jaap, yes, you are right, the communication itself is another good consideration. For that, monitoring (on the port numbers) is always a good option, and , again, check the log files. I experienced the communication issue by firewalls several times, and with Enterprise Guide a lot. And any configuration made (by a internal or external responsible) should be aligned with internal IT policies. You can check (and monitor) your firewall rules and port numbers, so they can be aligned and you will be notified when there is a problem in communications.
