Now, for your concrete issue: Those messages and lack of connections can happen for several reasons: - SAS System services cannot see the SASApp (permissions on the SASApp and servers below) - SASApp or user cannot create a log file (permisions on log folder) - SASApp or user cannot create WORK folders/files (permissions on your temp/work) - Or any other.... When this happens, you should first see the details on the error from EGuide, enable and check the logs of your SASApp servers and Object Spawner (change to DEBUG level for more detailed info), check mentioned permissions, check the errors generates on the Enterprise Guide itself (from SAS 9.4 only, I think, and you need to enable the Logging feature) and validate all SASApp servers (WOrkspace, StoredProcess, etc) :

Hello Zach, you can, of course, leave your questions over here. Well, I am not the forum administrator and, in fact, I am pretty new on this forum, but at least I can say that I would be happy to answer your questions. I think it is a good approach to model/design first your authorization matrix before you start the administration of any (SAS or not SAS) platform. It is not the easier task, sometimes not the most beautiful, but always interesting and very worthy in the long road. My advice for you: - You can always take the Fast Track of SAS Administration course at SAS, or read the documentation on internet. - But, in other hand, I think the course it is absolutely not enough for start modelling/designing your SAS platform, you need experience and be able to connect problems with solutions before they happen. - So maybe it would be a good idea to take this support from SAS (there is an special service for that, SAS Application Support, I guess), or any other SAS Consultancy company. They can work with you and provide some guidance on this kind of task. For a reasonable price of course

Jaime, take in consideration that SAS 9.4 have more web applications to start, and bigger (even if it does not look like that, you can trust me). Of course there are some other considerations: - did you choose to automatically deploy the web applications? If the answer is yes, everytime the SASServers are starting, they are also redeploying the web applications (not rebuilding them), what takes more time. Probably also your JBoss was not redeploying automatically. - Check the resources of your middle tier server: RAM memory is a must. - Check also the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) memory parameters that are being used to start your web application servers (SASServers). You can find them on your wrapper.conf/setenv.sh as Xmx, Xms, etc. Maybe they can be optimized

To the remarks made by user24feb: - Pretty good post from SAS User Groups - You have some more options for scheduling, and the one that fits better in your needs, it is something for you to decide: - SAS Grid Manager : pretty expensive license, but includes Platform Computing for Scheduling (with its beautiful functionalities) and will add you nice features like parallel processing, load balanding, high availability and improved scheduling. - You can use your own Enterprise Scheduler: it will require from you to do some manual work, but it has some good advantages, like the possibility to integrate your SAS processes with other processes within your Enterprise flows.

Good updates on your entries. Thanks Ronan. To be honest, I was unaware about the encryption on RDP traffic from 10 years ago or more. And about powershell, I am not sure if it address better this requirement. Now it is becoming very popular and trendy. In my personal opinion, in the end, all of those tools are doing mostly the same and they need same security requirements... the difference is the implementation of the solution and the security itself.

It is known that this happens normally with access to DBs with SAS/ACCESS, and sometimes also with simple datasets. The problem is not the machine for sure, or the other processes. You can always play with Options -> Data -> Performance. Not sure if that option is on EG 4.3. The idea is to reduce the number of rows initially shown to the GUI, then performance improves significantly.

Hi Jaime, as most probably your SAS server is running the services with Local System (just guessing it is a windows server), probably you are the good way, but I believe it is a little more complex than that. Even if this is not a best practice, for this configuration I would begin leaving sassrv account as it is, and I would create delegation for the server account, register the SPNs, then check if you can reach the DB server through the network, and check if the Kerberos keys/tickets are being generated properly. Afterwards, you can try to change to service account delegation, instead of the server account. Also with the additional changes: change the user that starts the Object spawner, add special local policies for the user that starts the object spawner and SAS app (if any) and all validations required. By the way, I am still unsure that this configuration would work. At least, you can always read some useful information on the internet, the SAS Administration Guide for your SAS version, or SAS & IWA: Verifying Trusted for Delegation Status

Hi bhagia, I am not sure about the changes you made, exactly, and the status of your configuration before them. Could you please provide the information from internal and external connections? : protocol, host (aprox), url, port number. Information of your wrapper.conf/setenv.sh (windows/linux installation) can be interesting to know if you have a reverse proxy configuration or only a "default" installation.

You could always create Shortcuts to your locations on your desktop. Or you can always share a folder with yourself and create a drive for that to make the access even more easy.

bhagia, in your case I thounk you are logging to the url http://server.xxx/SASLogon instead of http://server.xxx/SASPortal or http://server.xxx/SASStoredProcess , i.e. After you login you can go to any application. And if you can not do it, that is another issue/topic.

Yes, to change the settings is a feature more or less clear. What it is not clear is the way to retrieve the information that sunilredy wants. At least not for me, only to go to the open metadata interface. SAS(R) 9.3 Open Metadata Interface: Reference and Usage, that is like magic when you know how to use it and retrieve the metadata. @Jaap: I think he means the user lang from his IDP/web profile. So something apart from the standard that overrides the browser locale. What Jaap is saying is true: now the default is the browser language, that overrides the server locale defined for the Web Application (IDP). But the User profile in IDP/Web can override browser locale. I know that can be possible with a metadata program.. that I don;t have and I guess It will be specific for your own metadata folder structure and SAS version
