Hi,   It should not be a big issue to you. But before stating that is not an issue it might be a good idea to review some considerations: 1. First of all, your SAS datasets in disk will require to be migrated/exported from Windows to Linux encoding 2. The same goes to formats and other catalogs, if any. 3. And if you have any custom scripts, they should be migrated too. 4. And any other customization: scripts, config files, autoexec, themes, etc 5. Hi,   First, an intro would be a good idea, the Backup and Recovery tool requires: 1. to have deployed your SAS Deployment Agent in all your SAS hosts/nodes, since the Agents are responsible to "execute remote code"  2. To have started and fully working your Middle tier since it is a web application 3. All the machines should be able to see each other, specially from and to your Central Backup Vault 4. Hi,   I personally agree completely with LinusH. I would use a different instance as well. The reason is that the WIP db it has a performance tuning (and encoding, usually just UTF-8) configured for the kind of data and transactions it is expected to be handled by the shared services, VA and so. Given this scenario, as I want the SAS system to work as optimal as possible, I would not include external factors or change the performance settings.   In other hand, I would chose to optimize the performance, encoding and colate settings for my ETL data and transactions too. Hi Raj, I think it would be wise to define (WHOLE backup) first. I guess you mean the backup with the new Backup and Recovery tool, coming in SAS 9.4, but I am not sure. By the way, did you check that your "complete" backup (Backup and Recovery, or your customized backup) and the standalone metadata backup (SMC) are scheduled for the same time, the weekly one? By default, the standalone metadata backup is scheduled for every day at 1:00. The complete backup (with the Backup and Recovery Utility) is scheduled by default for Sundays at 1:00. Any chance that both are running at the same time, therefore, files + metadata are locked for one of them? PS. Indeed, is as SASKiwi says. You can check with your SAS Administrator or System Administrator at your company which ones are those ports. I can imagine that is a recent SAS installation or migration.
