Can you share a few more information how you are loading the data into memory? What version of VA are you using? It seems odd that some columns (e.g. "X") get loaded as category but others (e.g. "Y") recognized correctly as measure. Does the VA Administrator show the same classification? The enhanced location analytic options were introduced in version 8.x. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a similar capability in version 7.x or earlier.   If you have the coordinates for both the customers and zip codes - you could try using functions such as PROC GEODIST (doc is here: http://go.documentation.sas.com/?cdcId=pgmmvacdc&cdcVersion=9.4&docsetId=lefunctionsref&docsetTarget=n1korpfg2e18lon1nwpow9qijdxe.htm&locale=en ) which can calculate the distance between two geographical points. Dependent on your data structure you may be able to calculate distances between customers and related ZIP codes. This could be packaged as a SAS Stored Process for example showing the closest customers given a passed in ZIP code (A quick guide to get started is here: https://communities.sas.com/t5/SAS-Communities-Library/Quick-Guide-to-Using-SAS-Stored-Processes-in-SAS-Visual/ta-p/233181 ). Alternatively - if you do an Internet search for a formula to calculate distances between two latitude/longitude points - you may also find more generic versions (some are more complicated than others) which you can use directly in VA as calculated data item.   Hope this helps. Yes, this should work. Just make sure to configure ADDRESS as custom geographical item (so specify the LAT,LNG columns as coordinates) and use the DATE as animation role on the geo map. The VALUE column can be either the size or color of the bubble.   Hope this helps. Cheers, Falko ... View more

The example uses a manager-employee relationship but is very similar to what you are trying to achieve. I believe this message is shown if you have more than one date for one ore more geo categories. Are you able to either aggregate (change the format on the date field) or filter out the relevant entries? Hi David, I'm sorry - you are right about the rectangular zoom action. Indeed it's used for zoom/area selection only - not for actual data point selection. In 8.x rectangular selection is however a valid selection tool along with free-polygon and radial. Sorry for the confusion.   Yes, 8.x is a major release upgrade - not just due to the brand new Viya platform but also in regards to the new interface and related new features. We invested a lot of energy in geo related upgrades so I'm sure you will like it. Besides the mentioned drive-time and drive-distance options you will also have access to a wider selection of base maps as well as geolocation search.
