Request
It is requested that can be managed use of hyperlink on images in order to create buttons for accessing directly (with one click only) to one section or to one report or to other objects (e.g external link). Currently VA does not admit to have a direct link from one image but implies that after the first click it appear the link (or the links) associated with the object and then reuire s a second click. This way of working is interesting in some case, for sure when more options are available but definitively is not always reasonable. The request is to enable the possibility to keep current behavior but also to enable the direct access to the linked object only with one click as already possible also on mobile using hyperlink on text.
Moreover it is requested to enable also in mobile the same user experience already working on web where with a single click on the image the user can access to the link if the link is only one
The request is related with the needs to create a navigation bar with icons that enable the user to have direct access to the sections of the report
Use case/Workaround
We have designed an APP that include a vertical navigation bar with some buttons that should enable to access directly (with one click only!) the sections of the reports. The navigation bar is designed including one icon for each section and it is expected that sub click on the icon the user access directly (one clik only) to the linked section. This appears not feasible with current va mobile due to the fact that hyperlink on images requires on va a first click that show the link and a second click on the description of the link. Double click make sense if there are more option but typically a navigation bar with icons (also in IOS guideline for developer) never ask for a double click to user.
In particular in this use case the icons is only for facilitating the navigation on report and the double click for sure does not help.
Different workaround has been suggested from Sas local team (avoid using images and use text instead of images, keep current behavior since user can swipe between sections, …) but not yet identified a good one.
Considerations
Despite the warning on usability enhanced by SAS local team, it has been checked the feature with business users and with external media agency and for Navigation bar it is confirmed the need to have only one click.
The functionality is by the way available in many BI competitors of VA.
