Calcite | Level 5

Hi Experts,

I want to calculate the number of distinct daily users logged in during the quarter.

The calculation formula is as follows: Daily average (Count distinct users each day of the quarter).

But the problem is that I don't know how to apply the AggregateTable in this case.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Betty,

In general, VA does not do nested aggregations and distinct count is a type of aggregation.

If you are able to precalculate the distinct count as part of your data preparation, that would simplify things. I believe it should be possible with PROC SQL.

Correction: AggregateTable does allow you perform some types of nested aggregation.

I spoke to the dev team about this specific use case, and they feel that it *should* be possible using AggregateTable but it is not currently allowed in the expression editor. We are going to explore making this possible for a future release.
