Hi SAS Believers!!!

I was working on SAS and SAS Viya training last year.

I'm trying to restart but I need some questions answered.

Q1: When does SAS roll exams generally to the next version? I made the mistake last year of studying 4.0 (no longer available in the documentation now) but sat for 3.4/3.5 exam. I'm having this same issue with JMP too.

Q2: How do I report issues with the online technical documentation? Should I use this forum or is there a direct email to documentation?

See this page, https://documentation.sas.com/doc/pl/calcdc/3.5/calwlcm/home.htm

I has mixed multilingual content. I need to download documentation but I need someone to fix this first.

Here are screenshots of the problem.

The link you provided points to mixed multilingual content because the locale of your URL indicates a preference for Polish (/pl/) https://documentation.sas.com/doc/pl/calcdc/3.5/calwlcm/home.htm. In that case, the Help Center presents the Polish version of a document if available. All other docs that are not available in the translated language will appear in English. To see all of the documents in English, you can use the language selector at the bottom of the Help Center or change the URL to include /en/ instead of /pl/  (https://documentation.sas.com/doc/en/calcdc/3.5/calwlcm/home.htm).

Q3: Can you add a section in this forum just for documentation? This is just the best place to put that info instead of sending emails. The documentation people have a pressure free location and can just post when issue is fixed.

yourturn@sas.com is how to submit issues with the online documentation.

To report an issue with the technical documentation, select the Feedback option in the top right of the Help Center when viewing SAS documentation. Our team responds to every request within 2 business days. An email to yourturn@sas.com will also work, but the Feedback option in Help Center is usually easier for most users.

Q1: There isn't a set timetable for releasing the next versions of the credentials. The Viya Programming Associate and Specialist Credentials are at the latest release, but there is little difference between the exam relevant functionality of SAS Viya 3.5 and the current release, so preparation can be done on either platform. You mention that '4.0 is no longer available in the documentation.' I assume you mean Viya? The release nomenclature has changed, and you can find the releases in the drop down in the header of the documentation page:

Hi Mark2010,

First, are you sas employee or sas user? I just need to clarify that.

Moving along, I see your posts and I remember the renaming. I remember that because I was burned while taking the test because what I studied was not in the older version of the test I took.

This is what I showed when I visited the other day...

This is what I see today...with the deployment and update section fixed.

I want to make further comments about your post but issue is fixed so I'm moving along...

Thanks for your email. Back last year I got a long email about the SAS Viya 4.0. I'm a Microsoft guy so I'm trying to do specializations of SAS on Azure but this is only really supported with 4.0.  What I forget was 4.0 IS the new naming convention 2020.1 - 202x.x

I support so many products (SAS, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, and Adobe and others). SAS I need to get certified on this year but it has to be 4.0 not 3.5.

After your private message, I reviewed my prior emails and I'll post what I have:

In the past (for SAS Viya versions 3.5, 3.4 and 3.3 and earlier), the new versions were released when R&D determined that there were enough changes to warrant a new release. So these older SAS Viya releases were issued on a different schedule. However, as explained in THIS video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ka3LKzQAOE , with the introduction of Viya 4, a new release cadence and numbering system was announced.

SAS Viya 3.5 is NOT the same as SAS Viya 4 or SAS Viya 2020.1 (which is an example of the Viya 4 numbering release cadence). SAS Viya 3.5 only uses that release number. This is unlike SAS Viya 4, which is also referred to by the cadence number, such as 2020.1 or 2021.1.

The Viya Administration 3.5 exam is based on SAS Viya 3.5. SAS Viya 3.5 was released as production in 2019 in the October/November time frame. SAS Viya 4/2020.1 was released in November 2020. For the SAS Viya Administrator 3.5 exam, you should be studying SAS Viya 3.5 topics as outlined in the exam content guide: https://www.sas.com/content/dam/SAS/documents/technical/certification/content-guide/viya-admin.pdf .

With SAS Viya 4, the new cadence release plan was introduced. The video link I sent you explains this starting at time stamp 22:21 and as shown below:

I recommend that you watch this video if you are interested in understanding about the new cadence releases. As you can see, with SAS Viya 4, there is a long-term cadence release every 6 months. However, the Viya 4 cadence schedule is a moot point in terms of understanding SAS Viya 3.5 because SAS Viya 3.5 is NOT the same as SAS Viya 4 and SAS Viya 3.5 is NOT part of the 2020.1, 2021.1 cadence release schedule. Any documentation labeled SAS Viya 202x.x is NOT SAS Viya 3.5 documentation.
