The Base Programming Specialist exam (A00-231) is a challenging exam. It is performance-based, you will need to write SAS programs during the exam. This requires experience and practice writing code. Reviewing written content will not be sufficient to be successful on the exam. There is also a SAS Programming Associate (A00-215) credential that does not contain a performance-based component and rather uses standard multiple-choice questions. This is appropriate for candidates who have learned a lot about SAS programming but have less experience writing code. Some experience is expected on all of our credentials. Exams should not be attempted immediately after completing training.
Both credentials have extensive prep materials on the websites linked above, including (free) tutorials, (some free) training, prep guides, (free) webinars, (free) sample questions, (free) practice exams, and (free) access to SAS Software for practice writing code using SAS OnDemand for Academics. That's a lot of free, no?
