Greetings SAS Community members,
As part of healthy community maintenance, every so often we look at our forum names and structure and ask if it's still serving us in the best possible way. As part of our recent evaluation we decided to move a few forums and combine some others. We've completed some of the work already and more is in progress.
Not an exhaustive list, but here are a few highlights:
A few other moves are in store for our Community navigation menu. Most people find topics by search or by visiting one of our "all topics" pages, so the navigation menu -- while important -- isn't the primary way people find their way around. If you're looking for a particular board you can always search for the forum name in the Search field -- matching forum links will display in addition to the topic lists.
When we remove a board (by combining its topics with another board), we're not saying "that board's topic isn't important". It's more about the volume and vibrancy of the forum. The more specific the forum topic, the fewer new topics it will attract (naturally). That's not always a bad thing but one downside is that it shrinks the audience of potential responders. So by combining some boards, we can increase the visibility of specialized topics and potentially gain faster replies (as well as more people learning from the thread).
Thanks for being a member of the SAS community and "pardon our dust" as we rearrange some of the furniture. As always, we welcome your feedback about how to make this space even more useful, engaging and fun for you.
Tom, we still have separate boards for EG and SAS Studio. They are just now found in the "Programming" category in the community navigation.
Hi @ChrisHemedinger,
what about a glossary for topics (like "stored process", "ODS", etc) that leads to the board in which the topics are included? And a header per board which list the topics covered.
For me it would help to better place my questions.
Best
Markus
