Dear SAS Communities,
in new order of SAS VA Licence files for Linux, we also bought SAS/CONNECT TO ORACLE.
Which had to lead into generating new version of SAS DEPOT for our VA server.
Is it OK if i'll just install the SAS/CONNECT TO ORACLE via depot install of "SAS Foundation and related software"?
Would it change any of our preconfigured stuff like SASApp server and so on?
Thank you for your advice!
Have a nice day,
Michal
Hi Michal,
It will not change anything in your configuration. Adding an Access engine is an update to the SASHome part of your deployment rather than the configuration. I agree that it looks like a lot will be done again instead of just adding to what's already there. But you can add Acc/Oracle as you describe.
Do not forget the post-install instructions that pertain to this product. They are very important.
Regards,
- Jan.

When installing additional software, remember to choose this option when using the SAS Deployment Wizard to avoid re-installing any existing software.
BTW it's called SAS/ACCESS to Oracle, SAS/CONNECT is a different product.
SAS depots are heavily customized according to your existing software. If you receive a depot for additional software, and your current installation is not on the current maintenance level, then the depot will include the necessary updates for the current ML, which will be automatically installed as soon as you select "Install Software".
This means you need downtime, as all SAS services and processes have to be stopped.
Thanks for your answer, i have "just to be sure" question for that.
If the deployment wizard says it will update some components like :

BUT we have metadata server on different machine (obviously with older software than this update) - will it makes any problems? Thanks a lot!
I would at least run the SDW on the metadata server to check if it finds something to update.
If in doubt, get in touch with your SAS representative.
Thanks for all advices - I've changed the title of question to sas/access. Going to install it tommorow. Thanks a lot!
Any report/successes on the install?
