Thank you so much for responding to my post.   I found something on sas documentation...   Checksum Validation Error Effective with SAS 9.4M2, the recovery process uses checksums to validate the contents of the specified backup directory against the originally created backup. If the validation fails, a warning message is generated and the recovery is not performed. Follow these steps to determine the cause of the validation error: Check the backup directory to determine whether it contains a file called backupsourceDetails.checksum. If the file is not present, this means that a checksum calculation error might have occurred during the backup process. In this situation, you can attempt to perform a forced recovery. To do so, specify the forced option in the JSON file for the recovery command.     ... View more

we have minorissue with SAS backup manager scheduled Backups. The SAS backup manager was scheduled to run daily and it used to run the schedule without any warnings or errors till last week. But suddenly it started finishing the schedule with warnings but metadata,compute and mid tier server scheduled backups are with completed status(green tick mark) on it. We dont have any clustered environments and all the servers running on windows 2016. Environments: Metadata server, compute server and Mid tier server. In SASdeploymentBackup9.4. log, I can see the below error messages: "com.sas.svcs.backup.dao.BackupServerHelperDAO - Error code: 325, Stack Trace : Status returned by backup server is other than SUCCESS. com.sas.svcs.backup.dao.BackupServerHelperDAO - Backup server status 325 com.sas.svcs.backup.dao.BackupServerHelperDAO - An error occured while executing the operation on << compute server name>> com.sas.svcs.backup.spi.BackupSupportServiceProxyImpl - The backup could not be copied or archived to shared Vault. <<"An error occured while generating checksum">> I observed CHECKSUM file i.e, "backupsourceDetails.checksum" is not generating on the compute server in result.properties which is in C:\<SAS config>\Backup\Results\<backup folder with date>\archive\, the status code= 325 where as in previous successful backup folders the there is a value for checksum in result.properties and also CHECSUM File "backupsourceDetails.checksum"in successful results folder. In Metadata and mid-tier, there is a value for checksum and I dont think any issues on these servers. We have not made any changes in compute servers recently but only restarted the object spawner once due to SASApp issue. Thank you for your reply.   Yes, SAS Deployment Agents are up and running in all the enviorments(Meta, Mid and Compute Servers). I didn't find any Errors in the log.   What I observed from the logs, Schedule backups via SAS Backup Mananger never worked whereas via SAS SMC, the daily schedule backups are working fine. I have increased log files in Detail and i can only find the error code i.e, Status 672 ><![CDATA[Failed to configure backup server on host   FYI...I have not changed any configuration files, even though if i Change it for testing purpose, I'm keeping it back to the origional.   I can see, Backupserver.ini and backupserer.dat are configured(C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\Backup) only on Mid-Tier Server. Are they Need on Metadata Servers? on Metadata, I see only C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\SASMeta\MetadataServer\Backups Folder and the backups which are scheduling via SMC are backing up in this Location. I dont find the path " C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\Backup" on metadata Server. do i Need to create backup, vault, dropzone, results, logs Folder under "backup" as like Mid-Tier Server?   ... View more

Thank you for the quick reply. Even i thought the same on the backslash. I checked on the logs and ist not clear. but i can say if i remove metadata Server Name from sasbacksvm.configured.Hosts (SAS Backup Deployment and Recovery tool 9.4 SAS SMC Settings), it is throwing different error with Status code 672 like below     ERROR [sasadm] com.sas.svcs.backup.aop.ErrorLoggingAspect -  Error Start|||  <BackupErrors><BackupError><BackupErrorEntry><errorHeader><errorCode>672</errorCode><errorImpact>None of the backup operations will be able to complete except sas-list-schedule.</errorImpact><errorClassification>ERROR</errorClassification><errorName>ERROR_CODE_BACKUP_SERVER_CONFIGURATION_FAILURE</errorName><errorCategory>GENERAL</errorCategory><errorSummary>The backup server configuration failed.   ><![CDATA[Failed to configure backup server on host: < Metadata Server Name>   I cant give Server names and full log path due to restrictions but i can say it is failing on metadata Server from what i observed from above..   let me know if anything you Need more ...   Hello everyone,        I'm looking for a solution to schedule(Windows Environment) the backups via SAS Backup Manager.I checked all the configuration Settings and Looks fine to me. We have 3 Tier(1 Meta, 1 compute and 1 Mid-Tier) Environments. From SAS SMC, backups are scheduled and it is working fine but the Problem when we try to schedule or manually run start backup from SAS Backup Manager it is failing with Status 999 and the error is C:\SAS\Config\Lev1/Backup\backupserver.log. I dont know where this '/' (backslash) is coming from. even I have checked backupserver.ini which is configured on mid-Tier Server and Looks good to me. I have observerd "Vault" and "dropzone" Folders are empty and do we have Need to create "results", "vault" and "dropzone" Folders on metadata and Compute Servers also? In SMC, SAS Deployment backup and recoverytool 9.4 advanced Settings, sasbackkupevm.configured.Hosts "metadata" and "midtier" Servers are including with config path..do we Need to Keep both host names?   I'm happy to share more Details if required..let me know anything Need to be configured to find the solution for this issue. ...
