There has to be a simpler solution to this and I am not sure why I'm having so much difficulty. I have two date vars, with date9. format. I simply want to create a new date variable in the same data step based on these two variables, but can't without it converting to numeric (or character if I try and use 'put' statements but then my 'format new_date date9.' step doesn't work . help?   I'm trying:    data data1; set data; if date1^='' and date2^='' then new_date=date1; else if date2='' then new_date=date1; run;    ... Does anyone know how to assign specific colors to specific bars/legend groups in SGPLOT? For example in my figure, I used: datacolors=(white black grey);   and thus the first bar ("one") was depicted as white, group "two" was depicted as black and "three" as grey. This would be fine, however, because I am creating many graphs, it becomes tedious and time consuming to reorder the colors in the datacolors statement if it so happens that the first occurrence in my data is group "two" (i.e. group "two" would be colored white, which would be inconsistent with my previous graphs).      I am assuming there is a way to assign the colors like:  "one"=white,  "two"=black, "three"=grey    but I am unfamiliar with how to do so. Hello,   I have approximately 20 subjects and 30 questions (True or False responses). My goal is to tabulate a respondent-by-respondent matrix, in which each cell would have the number of identical responses per individual. Something like this: While right now I have something like this, with respondents as rows and questions as columns:     I was going to try and use if-then statements to calculate the agreeance between each combination of respondent, by transposing the data and doing something like "if var1=var2 then agreeance_12=1; else aggreance_12=0" but this would obviously take a very long time.
