Have you looked at data plots to see how the response variable trends with respect to weight?  Also, since you used an automated selection method, there is a very strong possibility that it got included because there are moderating or mediating variables previously included.  Search this site for links to Flom and Cassell's SUGI article pointing out problems with stepwise variable selection methods. Q1: No, and in fact adding a separate RANDOM statement with the subject alone will result in a non-positive definite message regarding the G matrix, as all the variability will have been explained in the R matrix. Q2: In the repeated statement, subject=subjid isn't considered a random or fixed effect, but is a subject classifier that denotes what the repeated measure is observed upon.  I suppose in that sense, it is fixed, as it only addresses the subjects sampled in the trial, and they are assumed to be independent of one another. Reading between the lines, there are a lot of different lab tests and the client is trying to see where there might be some action.  I am assuming the lab tests all have continuous measures, but are on different scales. There are a number of different ways to attack this.  A number of the SG procedures and ODS graphics could be used.  Look through http://blogs.sas.com/content/graphicallyspeaking/ and you could find some examples to show your manager to get better direction on the presentation for the client. One possibility is to look at %-change from baseline.  You could then label each lab test with a bar to represent the percent change; this if often done as a horizontal bar chart.  If you have 'normal values', you could also flag the test that were outside of the normal range at baseline (different color bars, for example).  You could also order the bars by height so the client can focus in on the ones that are most extreme. ... Well, I could be wrong here as haven't pushed the boundaries, but from memory you can put many sql create table statements (just tested creating 500 tables no probs), into one SQL step.  Couldn't get a limit there.  However I have run into difficulties when combining - e.g. merging/using as lookup, lots of tables - i.e. > 20 in one sql step.  (So select * from A left join B left join C etc.).  So yes, just test it (and if you hit a boundary ask yourself are you coding it in the best way).  ...
