Hi All, I can appreciate the desire to use SAS Communities as a place to post/recruit for SAS-related employment engagements. However, currently this use is not permitted in our terms and conditions*. Hosting a "job board" requires a special level of moderation that we don't currently support. When we notice job postings, or "situation wanted" postings, we remove them (obviously...missed this one a while ago!). For now, you have to rely on other services (like LinkedIn or Art's AnalystFinder or other public job boards set up for this). We continue to evaluate the possibilities for hosting/allowing something here to help, but no acceptable plan has surfaced yet. If you have ideas of what you'd like to see, feel free to PM me or send e-mail to communities@sas.com. First Job: Selling fireworks. After University: UNIX systems programmer doing bug fixes of the AIX kernel for IBM. Today: Manager of near-shore web application development team and Excel VBA consultant. Learn Next: Just finished Udacity Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree and I'm looking for volunteer opportunities as a SAS statistical programmer. Never did as much statistics work as I wanted early in my career. Hoping to make a change (switch) but it is tough to get the resume bullets I need to launch.

I find it almost impossible to find volunteer opportunities. I'm a very experienced IT professional and a strong programmer in several languages, and yet so far, I have been unable to find a business (or charity) that will allow me to donate my time as a SAS programmer. I've been on the other side of the table, reviewing applications of interns, and I understand the reluctance. Free work is not really free when you consider the time you must invest as a manager to supervise the intern, and quite often, the contribution the intern makes is so poor that the the cost in time investment is too high, even though the intern is not charging a salary. This is intensely frustrating, because I have no doubt I can do a good job and I'm very eager to work as a statistical programmer. I wish you well, but my experience is that finding volunteer opportunities is not at all easy. John Strong

I'd like to get some SAS resume bullets and so I also am looking for SAS volunteer work. I am an experienced IT professional and strong programmer (Python, Excel VBA, Matlab, R, SAS, Salesforce Apex/Visualforce, C++ and UNIX scripting languages) with a solid background in visualization (Python Matplotlib, Seaborn, R, Salesforce, Excel and analytics tools like Tableau and Power BI). I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. I have a strong background in mathematics and statistics, including familiarity with the mathematics of quantitative finance. I recently obtained Udacity’s Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree.
