I have a program that prints a graph using times new roman titles and footers and uses wingdings font for some symbols in the chart. Until last month this worked fine. I suspected that maybe the fonts weren't installed on the server, but the program prints two parts and one does use the selected fonts. It seems some update on the server or SAS itself may be the cause of this problem.

Ah, here it is January 2013 and my 9.3 editor still shows style, replace and class as red in proc template. They show as blue in EG 5.1. Are they planning on updating the enhanced editor?

Quentin This is a way I found after looking through lots of info on it through the internet. I use the session headers to return a dataset from a permanent library. The dataset is created from another SP that is run before this one: The template is used to keep quotes out of the file. You can run this SP through a browser with a url like: http://yourSPserver:8080/SASStoredProcess/do?_program=%2FShared+Data%2FYourFolder%2FExportQCResults Charlie

When I changed the sp execution options to only run on the workspace server it will return the package to the web browser. I think this may be the way to go. all you have to do is click the items on the left and they open in their respective program Does anybody know if there's a way to get rid of that header and replace it with your won?

After looking at the sample further, I think I see what it's doing. All the oputs are put into the &_STPWORK directory and then put in a package. How do you get the package back to the client? I ran this sample using url:http://sasserver:8080/SASStoredProcess/do?_action=newwindow&_program=%2FShared+Data%2FMyfolder%2FDemoPackage&_username=Me&_password=password but it always returns an error tha says: ERROR: An exception has been encountered. Please conta technical support and provide them with the following traceback infomation: The SAS task name is [STP_LP] ERROR: Read Access Violation STPX_LP Exception occured at (03B919BA) Task Traceback Address Frame (DBGHELP API Version 4.0 rev 5) 00000000000.......................................................etc. When I run it in EG it shows the results as 5 differnt types as input, but not the package.

That is very helpful. Right now the Stored Process I have is run through some http code and the reponse is saved as a pdf and then it is opened in a web browser. The code is jscript and the client app has it's own http objects, but is very similar to c#: var response : HttpResponse = HttpClient.GetResponse(HttpRequest); response.SaveValueToFile("C:\temp\Response.pdf"): *The code below opens the file in a Web Browser; var finsished = form.ShowModalDialog("WebBrowser"); *The open code for the form opens the pdf returned by the SP; WebBrowser.Navigate("C:\Temp\Response.pdf"); So, I see the example sends back a package that is an excelxp tagset. How would I return it to a pdf that opens in a web browser and prompts you to save the Excel file?

ansient packageI see lots of discussions on packages like what they are, the different types etc., but not much on how to create them. Here's the situation. I have a stored process that gets sent a csv file to run statistics on. It needs to produce two results back to the client. One is a pdf with charts and the other is an Excel file. Right now I have the stored process send the pdf file after the end of the process. The process leaves a dataset on a permanent library on the server. After the client closes the pdf they can then run another stored process to download the Excel file. The problem is some other user could get the Excel file(no security problem, just wrong data) so I was asked to delete the file after it was downloaded. What I need is a transient package to deliver back the pdf and the Excel file so there is never a permanent dataset on the server. Like I said I have read a lot on packages but just can't seem to get started in the right direction. Any advice :smileyinfo: would be appreciated?

OK, here goes. The Stored Process Server is SAS 9.3. The SP is run from a web based application and there is no MSOFFICE. Thanks to your comment about quoted_columns I was able to solve the problem. I did a search on SAS quoted_columns and came up with another answer on a forum about ODS CSV w/o quotes. Richard A. DeVenezia suggested modifying the CSV Tagset and that is what I did. I have a small stored process to export a file back to the user after an earlier sp is run: It works great sending back a dialog prompt to Open or Save the File. If you select Open, it opens in Excel and you can save as csv without the double quotes. If you select Save, it saves the file with double quotes around a char data. Does anyone, perhaps Cynthia, know how to code this so when you Save the file it doesn't have the double quotes?

EG 5.1 automatically puts in %STPBEGIN and %STPEND unless you uncheck them.

Have you tried putting this code at the top of your stored process? %global _ODSDEST _ODSSTYLE _ODSOPTIONS; %let _ODSDEST = PDF; %let _ODSOPTIONS =; %let _ODSSTYLE = wivisp_SASstyle; _ODSDEST can be pdf, html, rtf, etc. and defaults to html; It seems when you publish a stored process it has a lot of default _ODSOPTIONS which from what I can tell aren't needed;

Here's the error returned from the SAS BI Web Service: "Cannot call web service method: sampleMEANSProcedureWebService SoapException: Error: A 'Server Execution' type of exception occurred during execution of 'MeansTest2' service. The exception follows: SAS completed with non-zero SYSCC '3,000'. SYSMSG: ''." Notice the SYSMSG is empty. I've also got a copy ot the log and it basically says: ERROR: Missing root element definition ERROR: Encountered during XMLMap parsing at or near line 1, column 1. ERROR: XML describe error: Internal processing error. Unfortuneatley I can't see the SOAP Request because of using a remote server to send to the SAS remote server. I've tried SoapUI and Fiddler with no sucess. By the way this is the Sample Means Procedure that we ran through the Generated Web Service Wizard and called it MeansTest2. I have successfully connected and received back a response using PROC SOAP, Visual Studio Windows Form and Visual Studio ASP.NET.

Rob, have you had any more luck with getting your results out of the XML table? I am in a similar situation trying to access a Stored Process through the BI Web Service. I have been trying to access the sample means procedure through an app called STARLIMS that can consume external web services. So far I have gotten a good connection, but only an error response. I have been doing some experimenting with Visual Studio on the same sample and have gotten some good results. I think the biggest problem is there is numerous documention on using SAS to access BI Web Services but hardly any on 3rd Party apps consuming a SAS Web Service.
