Thanks Kurt for the JSF2 note. It was AIX and I could not figure out which limit to blame. As there were some 30.000 logfiles being created I noticed that weird behavior. Cleaning collecting logfiles solved the issue.  Could be a bug a btree limit or whatever, it could be also on the SAN as there was no clear message just no function on creating files. I would have liked to show this impossible behavior to you (real life experience).  :smileyconfused: I always believe someone telling me something impossible has happened until I have proven he is liar.  An other time there was a volume dropped in the file systems, this was the answer I got when those storage guys "did something".          This time the behavior was weird trying to copy one special file (they created) did cause a process hangup. How is the data set pre-defined in SMC? How is the library assigned? It seems that there is a miss-match between the physical table attributes and it's metadata. Try "Analyze" in DI Studio, or issue your own PROC CONTENTS to verify this. ... View more

Hi: Interesting approach. I really don't know enough about refreshing the metadata in batch mode via a Unix script to be of any help. I really like SAS Management Console for managing stored processes and so far, have not experienced a need to create/manage stored process using anything other than SAS Mangement Console. Hi, Thanks everybody for the replies. I used the technique to refresh the metadata for the particular stored process, after my monthly job completes. Using unix script job to refresh metadata. Since the data changes once a month, I chose to use this option. Thanks, Chandru ... View more
