Thanks Fredrik! Yes, all your comments make sense and many are on my list of things to improve. Yes, I don't like the legend either - far too small. I was actually planning to replace the legend with another chart (maybe a bar chart showing the frequency distribution for each type).    Yes, the report is interactive and you can select bars etc to filter the impact locations. But you are right - in a static report screenshot like this - a hint may be useful though if you have the live report - it's actually quite natural to click on bars or data points - just because you curious what happens     Will also add some general explanations about classes/types in version 2 - which makes it more like an infographic / poster.   Thanks again! Hi, Have you tried creating a hierarchy out of the described levels (e.g. customer -> accounts -> ..)? The network analysis supports hierarchies as input - some details are here. Just make sure to switch to hierarchical type in the options panel first. And yes, you can also assign related measures to things like node color or link width to highlight the level of relationship.   Once you have your network - there is also the option to set a specific node as root (RMB click -> Set as source node) and have predecessors/successors selected given the distance to this node. Some details are here. This is sometimes useful in order to filter out unwanted sub graphs.   Alternatively - you can create a special table with source and target columns as described in the doc - this is known to VA as 'ungrouped' network. This is a very common structure when doing network analysis - but given your details below it seems your current structure is rather transnational so a hierarchical network may be easier.     Hope this helps. Thanks Sundaresh. Appreciate your suggestions and comments. And yes, the playable dashboard feature in VA 8.3 is used to transition through multiple tabs - just like a slideshow. If data changes - individual visualizations will also smoothly transition into the new state and visualize new data.   This particular dashboard was created as an interactive report though - so one can select teams to compare against and probably doesn't have enough pages to go through in play mode.    I may have to check regarding the export to animated GIF or SVG as I'm not sure whether that's an option. Did you try using path analysis to see whether this is suitable for your needs? Things like customer count on given paths and measuring overall customer journey / contact points is part of sankey diagrams.   Otherwise you could create a SAS job to create and update the table using data step. Yes, you can use SAS Enterprise Guide (or even SAS Studio if you are on SAS Viya already). Probably easier just to have the job replacing the in-memory table on regular basis so any report consumer gets updated values when viewing the report.   Hope this helps. Falko ... View more

Good idea. I will share a few more details here when I publish the one or other infographic in future.    To answer your question. The 'calendar' is not really a custom object as such but rather a combination of two bar charts and a heat-map (all about creativity :-)). So I used a precision container and placed a bar chart showing the total sightings per month on top. Then a heat map below for month vs year and finally a second vertical bar chart to the right with numbers on year level. After removing a few unnecessary axis labels - all I had to do was adjusting the size of all object to match each other.   If you really need to customize graphs - VA supports two ways of doing so:   Using the SAS Graph Builder which let's you combine multiple pre-defined charts together. More information here. Assuming you refer to this infographic about flight cancellations and not fatality analysis?   Yes, the left side is just a normal flow container in vertical direction (so the visuals appear from top to bottom). The right side is indeed a precision container (with a light gray background) given the number of visuals and the fact I had to overlay some of the visual on top of the geographical map. I often use the options panel (Options -> Layout) to fine tune the actual position of a visual given you can enter values. In VA 8.3 we also introduced a nice grid which makes it pretty straight forward to snap visuals into position. If you hold CTRL key down while dragging the grid becomes even more fine grained for more precise positioning.   Cheers, Falko ... View more
