I'm somewhat biased as I built the site, but https://sasensei.com is a great place to test your SAS knowledge, not least because the questions / answers all come with explanations - so you can understand why it was / wasn't the right answer. Furthermore, each question is peer reviewed, so you are unlikely to find incorrect answers (like some of the examples out there in the wild web). Once you have amassed enough reputation, you can take short SAS quizzes (12 questions) and measure yourself against others. Finally, once you have green belt, you are able to submit new questions. Writing SAS questions (with explanations) takes a fair bit of thinking, and so it's actually a great way to revise! As well as a way to earn tokens that you can re-use for more quizzes.

Thanks @AllanBowe. I didn't realize that I couldn't access the metadata server with the same credentials (SASSRV) as what kicks off the STP server. I had my network admin create a dummy account on the network domain that I could authenticate against for the new SASBatch user in the metadata server and that worked like a charm. Thanks again!

Hi Mathias, The thing with JSONP is that you can't make POST requests, which means you're limited to simple URL-encoded parameter values when sending data to SAS. It's also... a bit of a hack. I'm not a fan of it, but I'll have a chat to our devs and see if there's a way we can implement it as an optional transport mechanism. Will keep you posted. Nik

Agreed with @FredrikE also! Adding an image to a Stored Process Web App by contrast is trivial (simply upload to the content server and add an <img> tag). In case it's helpful, you can find my quick-start guide to building web apps with SAS here, and a a detailed SGF paper on the topic here.

I recently had an issue as the STP I was testing was writing to a pdf destination. As per this stackoverflow question (credit: DomPazz) I think there is now a solid answer to your conundrum. Hi @egwilliamson, You can use the Batch Import tool from command line of server as well. Just that it can be very long depending upon the Number of objects you have for export. You can find more details about the syntax and procedure on the SAS Intelligence Platform system admin guide chapter "Using the Batch Export and Import tools". Hope this helps.

Here's an approach that doesn't require the server to have X command enabled. This could be done in one step, but I'm a fan of using generic macros so I'll do that to get my directory listing first. To get your CSV as a 'file download' (rather than displayed in the browser) you must firstly ensure you don't use the %stpbegin / end macros (as they will play with the output). You must also refrain from sending anything else to the _webout fileref. You can now set the headers (so the browser knows the data received is a file download) and stream your CSV, as per the below. We just finished a 6 month project converting a 500 user super complex AF / SCL application with 0000's of lines of SCL across hundreds of SAS catalogs. It was turned into a Stored Process Web Application (using HTML5 to replace frames) and I got rid of the SCL by creating a "transcoding kit" - basically rebuilding all the SCL functions with fcmp, creating method lookups, and exporting all the SLISTS as datasets. This meant I could literally copy paste the SCL and run it in regular SAS (eg SAS Studio). It was the only way, given the volume and complexity of the task, without doing a complete rebuild. I took certification (ended up taking 5 in fact) and found them very valuable. Specifically, working through the entire Base SAS Certification Prep Guide (which took about a month) was, in retrospect, the best thing I could have done at the start of my career. Followed up by the advanced base course, which gives you essential knowledge on macro, SQL and programming efficiencies. The first book gives you a solid understanding of the fundamentals (data step, pdv, input statements etc) which as a 'pick it up as you go' type learner you will likely never come across or have time for. And taking the exam gives you a reason to study / goal to aim for. As a recruiter, if I see that a candidate has taken certification, I think "this person cares about SAS and is motivated to further their career". This is just as important as the actual SAS knowledge itself!
