thank you again macro is working fine for deleting specified files but is there a way we can let this macro to delete files like file1.csv , file1.pdf , file1.xlsx and more formats which we are not aware of ? we just have the file name as file1 but not sure about the extension . I tried putting some linux options but didn't work

A relatively new solution to this problem would be sasjs/server - this provides a REST API over Foundation SAS, and would let you spawn jobs using any third party programming language (or, of course, SAS) Disclaimer - my team built this tool, and there are still some upgrades needed on the security side (as of 22nd Jan 2022) to make it suitable for server (as opposed to desktop) use. Hi Allan: Thank you for your response. I do not have direct access to the web server, and any update of JavaScript and CSS sources must be installed by a person who has access. This includes any custom JavaScript that I write to support this (internal) web application. While I can send scripts that are dynamically generated or more frequently updated to address change requests with the application server's response (to _webout), I have to rely on a set of core scripts on the web server. All external sources that I am referencing use an integrity checksum. Interestingly this restriction was not implemented with the previous SAS installations. At this point I have to pursue the route to install all external sources on the SAS web server. Thank you again! Beate

This is not the nicest, easiest, or most maintainable way to write HTML! If you'd like to put an end to put statements, you may consider the SASjs framework. We have built a compilation mechanism that lets you embed arbitrary files in SAS programs. Our latest release actually lets you embed binary files also (so you could put images, excel files, or zip files, INSIDE a textual SAS program). A demo of this is available here. To make this work for your particular use case: * stick your HTML in the /programs folder * add it under the `<h4> SAS Includes </h4>` program header * run `sasjs compile` It is now automatically wrapped in put statements, with each line no longer than 220 characters in length.

I would need to see more of the log to confirm, but it sounds like you are not an administrator. I suggest asking an administrator to register your client - they would be able to run the macro, or use a tool like this: https://sasjs.io/apps/#viya-client-token-generator

If you need to work with large data sets, you can also use filename URL to access data sets on public sites and a similar method to Tom's solution to copy them over from a cloud site to your SAS On Demand session.

Since Allan chimed in about how DataController does it, I'll add that SAS Enterprise Guide takes a similar approach. The Import Data task in SAS Enterprise Guide will read the Excel file metadata and present you with all of the options to select columns you want, types, formats, lengths, etc. Then the task will read the Excel file and convert to text, sending to SAS to import like a CSV. If you are okay with a client-side process that reads the Excel file first and sends it to SAS, then SAS Enterprise Guide or a tool like DataController can serve. However, many people need a process that can run 100% repeatable in SAS code.

Hi Everyone, As many of you know, my team builds SAS Apps and part of our work involves building out open-source tooling and products that are complementary to the SAS Stack. The majority of SAS Apps are built on SAS 9 (Stored Process Server) and SAS Viya (Job Execution Service). If you are running Base SAS, your traditional options would SAS/AF and SAS/Intrnet - but it would be unwise to build new apps on these, as the work would be 'throwaway' in the case of migration / modernisation. "Server" is the latest addition to the SASjs family. It provides a NodeJS wrapper over regular Base SAS, with the following functionalities: Ability to store files in a logical folder (aka "SASjs Drive") Ability to run SAS code (aka "SASjs Studio") A REST API with embedded Swagger docs Integration with SASjs CLI and Adapter Session Manager for responsiveness Authentication (choice of provider) The video below shows how you can download and launch SASjs Server on a Windows Desktop, clone the React Seed App, compile / build / deploy both frontend and backend, and finally - interact with the app interface. All within 5 minutes. The best bit - if you build apps on this framework, you have complete compatibility for any future migration to SAS 9 EBI or SAS Viya. To get a working version of a format, you need either PROC FORMAT code to create the format a CNTLIN dataset for PROC FORMAT a catalog containing the format a logical description of the format, so you can create the code yourself Without neither, you're hosed and have to resort to guessing. The options are listed in order of being useful; code works everywhere, while catalogs and datasets may have issues with your platform.
