The easiest way to use cleanwork is to schedule it every 15 mins in cron under root on every compute server. The format is : /sas/SASHome/SASFoundation/9.4/utilities/bin/cleanwork /my_work_folder_1 /sas/SASHome/SASFoundation/9.4/utilities/bin/cleanwork /my_work_folder_2 ...etc This is really all you need to keep you work directories clean. However, this doesn't prevent abuse of your workspace nor the cleanup of orphan processes. cleanwork only cleans up work folders that are not in use. If an orphan process is holding it, it's is seen as 'in use' by cleanwork.

Hi @JuanS_OCS This morning I obtained a third-party (Entrust) signed certificate for the server and imported all the certs into a new EV keystore, but the problem remains. So that rules out the private key theory.. Btw....I get the same error in Chrome, FireFox and Edge. If I expand the error in Chrome, it shows the certificate. The issuer of the certificate is listed as my server, so it appears to be the self signed certificate. But I don't understand how since EV is pointing to the new keystore that only contains the new thirdparty certs. It's as if EV is providing the self signed certificate and not the new ones. Any ideas ?

I can't speak of any best practices, but my rule of thumb is always.... Open a database connection (libname) when you need it, close it when your done. I'm very cautious about pre-assigned libraries, especially to RDMBs. If the DB is down when you run you pre-assignment, you Workspace Server will not start and you know how may many clients use a Workspace Server. Also, over time, you find these things accumulate for no good reason, and at some point you have a gazillion pre-assigned libraries and most aren't even used. Idle session also use some resources on both SAS and the database. That's probably why your Teradata DBA is alerting you about these sessions. So to answer your question, for me it's not a case of ending the alerts, it's not having idle sessions in the first place. Good, clean housekeeping.

Hi @JuanS_OCS Yes, I have imported the certs into Chrome. Other https URLs on the same mid tier e.g. VA Hub works 100%. Haven't tried with other browsers yet. Yes, I can click through and go to an 'unsecure' site. I'm just thinking now....The only difference between the EV and the Web Server setup, is that the EV config has a different private key, since it's generates a new private key when you create the keystore. It's the same server and server cert, but different private key. Could this maybe be the problem ? i.e. mismatch between the private key and the server cert. If so, is it possible to use the private key from the Web Server config for EV ? Ultimately I want to use the same server cert I used for the Web Server. Thanks,

Hi team, I'm trying to enable HTTPS for SAS Environment Manager 9.4M4 with a third-party (Entrust) signed certificate. I have done the following to no avail.... http://support.sas.com/kb/56/465.html http://support.sas.com/kb/56/451.html http://support.sas.com/kb/56/600.html Followed the post-install steps in the SAS Environment Manager Admin Guide Created a keystore with the CA root, intermediaries and server certificate. If I go to the EM console, Chrome complains that it can't validate the site. However, I've also implemented TLS on all the web apps on this same installation and they work 100%, so this is isolated to Environment Manager. Under HTTP I could connect 100% to the console. Any ideas ?

No, unfortunately haven't seen this before. My only suggestions would be to: 1.) Roll back the Metadata repository to at least get you back to a stable state 2.) Trace the metadata server logs line by line to see where the inconsistencies originated from

That just shows that the respository is 40mb. How much disk space do you have left on the disk where SAS is installed ? Use the df -h command

I know exactly what you mean, but maybe just to clarify for other forum members. I know this is semantics, but let's use the right wording.... SAS EG does not talk to any databases e.g. Oracle directy. Like you said SAS EG connects to a workspace server, typically on a server, or even local PC SAS. THAT instance of Base SAS then connects to Oracle using either an ODBC or Oracle client, depending on what SAS/Access engine your are licensed for. Assuming your have SAS/Access to Oracle installed on your SAS server, your question is then around the communication between the Oracle client and the Oracle database across the network. I'm no Oracle expert, but I can only imagine Oracle must have different options available, just as SAS has many encryption options available. For example, have a look at the below link. Also engage with the Oracle support team at your site since the Oracle software is ultimately their responsibility.
