The SAS Users Group for Administrators (SUGA) is open to all SAS administrators who install, update, manage or maintain a SAS deployment. Its purpose is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and best practices with SAS solutions. The Administration and Deployment Community is home to SUGA members. To become a member of SUGA, simply join the community. SUGA hosts quarterly virtual meetings for SAS administrators. Scott Armstrong's list of Standards and Practices for Forecasting and this great paper reviewing hundreds of other works and a myriad of forecasting methods and techniques.

Hi, this solution also works for residual plots that should base on the validation data set (this is what I'd like to do ) . However, I'm wondering whether it's also possible to generate these plots based on validation data using the SAS EM graphical nodes. But as far as I can see the MultiPlot node for instance only processes the training data. Is that correct? Or is there a workaround? Thanks for any hint, Jan

Optimization models require continuous constraints to converge. However, some real-life problems are better described by models that incorporate discontinuous constraints. A common type of such discontinuous constraints becomes apparent when a regulation-mandated diversification requirement is implemented in an investment portfolio model. Generally stated, the requirement postulates that the aggregate of investments with individual weights exceeding certain threshold in the portfolio should not exceed some predefined total within the portfolio. This format of the diversification requirement can be defined by the rules of any specific portfolio construction methodology and is commonly imposed by the regulators. The paper discusses the impact of this type of discontinuous portfolio diversification constraint on the portfolio optimization model solution process, and develops a convergent approach. The latter includes a sequence of definite series of convergent non-linear optimization problems and is presented in the framework of the OPTMODEL procedure modeling environment. The approach discussed has been used in constructing investable equity indexes. Taras Zlupko and Robert Spatz from the University of Chicago presented on this topic during SAS Global Forum 2016. Hey Shelley! As someone who is recently getting into this very large area of Simulation, I would love to see a paper on setting up Simulations where I want to model multiple variables (for example, if I'm modelling a Patient Population, i want to simulate data on Age, Length of Time Waiting, Race, and Surgeon who has been booked for the procedure). I would love a paper that provided step-by-step process of how to create this dataset, including setting up the rules of logic (Surgeon A only does Procedures 1, 2 and 4). I'd also like an introduction to optimization, focusing on Health Care - for example, if i need to find out the surgical supplies to consistently have a procedure cost less than $1000 for example. I don't know this would be considered OR, but I'm struggling to find a way to determine the characteristics of shorter versus longer procedures of the same type. Two patients go in to see Surgeon A for the same procedure, and one takes 2 hours and the other takes 3 1/2 hours - is there a method to determine what factor(s) could have potentially played a role? For example, is it the nurse, the anasethesiologist etc. or something else (first case of the day versus last case)? Pleae let me know if you need more information 🙂 Thanks Chris
