BASUG SAS Blowout (In Person)
BASUG is thrilled to announce our IN-PERSON SAS Blowout!
Pre-registration by Oct 15 is required. No on-site registration or walk-ins.
The meeting will be held on Friday, October 18, at the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center in Kendall Square, Cambridge. The full-day meeting, co-hosted by SAS® and BASUG, features presenters from SAS, presenting on a range of SAS 9 programming topics. There will be plenty of time for socializing during breakfast, breaks, lunch, and an early evening mixer with appetizers and a cash bar. We can't wait to see you! Abstracts are listed below. Join Susan for a trip down memory lane as she shares anecdotes from her 18-year SAS journey, including what canon events led to investing her career supporting SAS 9 users as a Senior R&D Director of Engineering. We will tie it off with some information about the future support of SAS 9 and our next maintenance release, SAS 9.4M9.
Major ODS Destinations: Quirks

We all know that each of the commonly used ODS destinations is different. While most of the syntax you need to create your output is the same, it is helpful to know when that syntax should be modified, or other code included because of the file type you are trying to generate. This presentation explores the quirks, good and bad, of the PDF, RTF, HTML, Excel, and PowerPoint destinations.
Building Complex Graphics from Simple Plot Types

There are many types of graphics, such as survival plots, adverse event plots, and forest plots, used to report clinical data. However, many of these graphics might not be available as a simple request. Even if they are available, there can be many variations on these graphics, and the reporting requirements can be different from one company to another. In this presentation, I want to show you how to construct these types of graphics by combining simple plot types, sometimes in very creative ways. We will discuss how to think about a graph as the sum of its parts. This will empower you to create these types of graphics in whatever form you need.
Data Cleaning Using SAS Programming

Cleaning your data is one of the first steps in any analysis. And- it is often an exciting step because it helps you better understand your data! We will explore some tips and tricks for cleaning your data using SAS programming. In particular, we will discuss how to:
• Use Perl regular expressions to detect data errors in character variables.
• Use SAS formats and functions to standardize data.
• Create integrity constraints to restrict data values allowed in a data set.
Tips for Navigating SAS Documentation

The amount of documentation for SAS products is mindboggling. Searching – and finding – what you need can be difficult at times. This presentation provides tips for getting to the desired documentation quickly and navigating the pages once you get there.
