Yes, there are multiple ways to do this: With SAS 9.3, you can use GROUPDISPLAY=Cluster with scatter plots too. This is the easiest and most scalable. See blog article with Mean Change plot. With SAS 9.2, if your data is in multi-column format (one column for each treatment), you can use DiscreteOffset in GTL. See my blog article on DiscreteOffsets. This will work for multiple treatments. With SAS 9.2 SGPLOT, you can use axis offsets if you have only two treatments to acheive the separation. Map one treatment to X axis, other to X2, and then use a small offset on X2. It will separate the two markers, thought one will be slightly off center.

To "simulate" the group behavior in SAS 9.2, you can use proc SGPANEL. It will be in the SG family, but it is not as simple as adding to SGPLOT. We need to consider if this should really be a separate procedure, since many of the options (and statements) avaialble in SGPLOT will not be valid for this case. We are considering a SGEQUATED procedure. This will only plots with allow numeric (linear) values on the axes, and many axis options will be common (to X & Y), and will need a EquatedAxis statement. There are benefits to separating it out (cleaner syntax and implementation). I don't yet see the benefit of adding this into SGPLOT. Do you see any benefits of adding this feature into the SGPLOTprocedure? In GTL, this is a whole separate layout container. Opinions?

With SAS 9.2 you can use GTL with LAYOUT OVERLAYEQUATED to create a graph with a real 1:1 ratio. LAYOUT OVERLAYEQUATED has three different EquateType of FIT, SQUARE and EQUATE. You can make the scales equal, but there not a way to have guaranteed equal lengths.

Starting with EG 5.1 (shipped in 9.3), the two ODS Graphics tasks are baked into EG. The ”Open ODS Graphics Designer…” task (on Tasks->Graph menu) simply launches the ODS Graphics Designer on your local SAS server (requires local SAS server). The ”Show ODS Statistical Graph…” task (on Tasks->Graph menu) replays .sgd files created by the ODS Graphics Designer (does not require a local SAS server).

The Scatter plot has a DataLabel role in the "Assign Data" that you can use to display a value in the graph. Series plot does not have this, but you can overlay the scatter plot on top of the series plot and use this feature. You can set the scatter marker size to Zero. If you want to see the value "exactly" at the center of the location, you can with SAS 9.3. In Plot Properties, "Data Label" tab, set the Position to 'Center'.

Robert pointed out I did not use the 'Bucket' variable. You can retain it in the data, and either use BY statement in SGPLOT (for separate graphs), or use SGPANEL and PANELBY Bucket to get both buckets in the same graph. With SAS 9.3, you can use a GROUP variable with GROUPDISPLAY=CLUSTER as another option. or you can use DISCRETEOFFSET to be more creative. With SAS 9.3, you also have the DataSkin option to spiffy up the appearance. See recent blog article.
