Hi:
There's not any intention for the course notes to "match" the e-learning class. The e-learning class is intended for self-paced learning. The class lectures and demos are pre-recorded since an instructor does not work with you while you're working in the e-learning class.
When we teach Statistics 1 in the classroom or in Live Web format, the lectures are NOT pre-recorded. Every instructor has their own lecture that covers the same material, but every instructor writes their own lecture and narrates the demo as they see fit based on the class. For example an instructor might tailor their lecture differently for a class of PhD or MS students who already know SPSS, and Stata than for a class of business analysts who need to transition from Excel to SAS for their analysis. The instructor in the class will follow the flow and notes and demos, as written.
What we discovered is that in class, an instructor can lecture for 20-30 minutes and then break for a demo or exercise and the students are fine with a lecture of that length. However, in an e-learning format for self-paced study, we discovered that it was necessary to break up the lectures into smaller "chunks" and re-arrange the flow of topics slightly. It would be impossible to create course notes from the pre-recorded lectures and demos that we use for e-learning.
The Course Notes are intended for "after class" reference and study. We do NOT intend for you to use the Course Notes to try to follow along with the e-learning class. There's just not a 1-1 correspondence between the PowerPoint slides that we use for instructor-based teaching and the recorded lectures that we use for the e-learning class.
So this is the reason that you find the Course Notes do not directly correspond to the e-learning videos. The e-learning class does NOT have course notes. It has pre-recorded lectures and demos. If you took Statistics 1 in the classroom, then you'd find that the instructor's in-person lecture would correspond to the PowerPoint slides and demos in the course notes.
Hope this clarifies that we intend for the Course Notes to be used for after-class reference or to reinforce the topics; the classroom Course Notes will never agree with the flow or organization of the pre-recorded self-paced e-learning.
