Just curious, Is it possible to create an Infomap wherein the source is a SAS table view? or how about a Teradata table view?

Thanks!

Milton

In short Yes, You can also use a resulting data set from a stored process

Hi Milton.

I know it can be done on SAS9.2 and the corresponding Clients - assume 9.3 also

Cheers

Thanks again Barry. But is it correct that it's slower when I have a view instead of a physical table for my InfoMap?

Thank!

Bellow discussion has little to do with InfoMaps.

Well, views might be slower, but in many cases, the user doesn't experience any difference.

it depends on what the view does. Any ordering, summarization and joining will obviously make the view slower than a corresponding table.

If the source tables to the view have indexed columns, it's not sure that the view can merge the where-clauses in the view with a where clause from the calling program (in this case, the Infomap).

Yes. you can create Infomap using different different source tables. like 1) Stored Process 2) Dataset and can be done in 9.1 version also.

If you are creating views, you cant filter the data as of my knowledge.
