Dear All,

I have a field that I use in an information map and that should not be seen by some users. How can I hide this ? Is there the possibility for column level security in the information map studio ? if not, what is in your oppinion a good workaround ?

Kind regards

Carl

Carl,

How are the users accessing the SAS information map. If you have created a web report using the information map, then you can create a report specifically for these users and let them see the field and probably another report for the rest of the users without the specific field.

Column-level security is not supported (http://support.sas.com/kb/45/094.html). You will have to create a different information map for each set of users.

Hi Carl,

You unforunately can't hide (as this would change the Metadata making the report invalid), a workaround would be to set all of the values in this column to something else (for instance missing). So som users see the data, others don't.

I would do it in one of two ways:

- Use a STP in the Information Map to subset the data (set the column to " " for instance). See http://support.sas.com/kb/39/432.html.

- Create a underlying view that either uses a lookup table or a variable (for instance the username) to show a empty column for some users, and the original column for others and then create the Information Map on this view instead of directly on the table.

Have a great weekend,

Marius

Hi CarlS,

I've found this article, maybe it could be useful to you: http://www.zencos.com/2012/04/column-level-security-for-web-reports/

You have to create two infomap and two reports
