Having Trouble after downloading SAS Mobile BI content from
the Server, both Server and client is 6.2. The content downloads fine to
the iPad and shows new. The content icon though has no color and when you

select it a total black screen appears the iPad BI app shuts down. This was also a small data file.  Any suggestions?

Just a quick question, do you get the message "preparing" in the icon or does it crash before ?

I Have VA 6.2 running with the iPad app having no problems.

I Could try to symulate your problem.

greetings.

Hi,

I have a similar problem to this, I'm using SAS VA 6.2 and have successfully set up a connection to the SAS VA Server, however whenever I subscribe to any report, they don't seem to download and it's constantly showing a spinning symbol, which makes it looks like it hasn't even started. When I click on my portfolio, it is showing them as greyed out, but are clickable and then they just show a blank screen, and any options I try to press results in the application crashing. Is there any way to resolve this? I assume it is some sort of connection issue to obtain the report from the server?

Cheers,

alex

Hi Alex and ?

I remember that during the set-up of our system, the app is communicating with two servers (Content and Transport)

Because you can see the content but get no data, I am sure something must be wrong with the Settings of the Transport service.

Sadly I don't have the skills to point out where to fix it, but this a start in your search for the solution.

Surely a SAS specialist can help you out.

This issue could be fixed by increasing the subscribe time of the transport services.

forterd1 and AleCla, please open a technical support track on this, I assume you have at least an iPad gen 2 or newer and iOS6.

Peter, the app only talks to the Transport Service, its the Transport Service that talks to the other servers.

Cheers,

Justin

Hi ,

I logged a tech support issue last week about this with the SAS Mobile BI app 6.3 and a SAS VA 6.2 server. Track #7611159132

Kind Regards,

Michelle

I'm having a similar (I think!) problem. I can access my library, browse the list of reports and subscribe to them. However I get a "download failed" msg on the tablet when I try to access the report contents. I am using android mobile V6.3. and VA V6.2 hotfix 2.

are there any server log files that could peruse that could contain more information about the error? any developments with the tech support issue?

Hi,

I didn't get any feedback from tech support on this as I upgraded the iPad app to connect with VA 6.3 and VA 6.4 servers. I think the server log files are rather verbose so you would want to ensure you know what day and time to search through them. I'll contact Tech Support today to see if they have any further information and if they do, I'll post it here.

Cheers,

Michelle

thanks. I've reviewed numerous server logs looking for trouble and didn't see any. the date and time is easy to find because this is a controlled development environment with a small number of users and I can control access. Not sure which logs I should be looking at, there are so many.

I was advised by SAS Technical Support to check the internal connection and external connection for VA 6.2 Transport services using steps in note http://support.sas.com/kb/51/759.html.

If internal and external connection (host, port and protocol) do not match, to change the internal connection such that it matches external connection and accessible from iPad app.

If you have already checked above note and it does not help then to provide Technical Support your VA 6.2 transport services log. The log can be found on the server hosting VA 6.2 web applications and the location will be similar to sas-config/Lev1/Web/Logs/SASServer1_1/SASVisualAnalyticsTransport6.2.log.

Hope this helps your troubleshooting further...

I changed the internal connection info to match the external connection and still the same problem persists. I'm assuming that both the internal and the external connection should match what is specified in the mobile application's connection settings that identify my server. both internal and external settings are now the same as the connection setting on the mobile.

Not sure what else to suggest... might be worthwhile to open a Tech Support track.

I'm not sure where things are at with this particular issue and thought I would add to the discussion a Usage Note I came across, 52874 - Capturing report diagnostics for SAS® Mobile BI for SAS VA 6.3 onwards that might help the community with troubleshooting SAS Mobile BI related issues.
