Hi Team,

There's a common problem that has been happening for a while with SAS Visual Analytics 8.3. It happens with other people too so it's not only in my computer. I can't find a solution for it.

As usual, you create your report in edit mode, then you view the report. However, some formatting is not being kept when changed from edit to view. The data is fine, but the borders and colours sometimes stay as the default or just disappear. So if you have a line chart in blue in edit mode, when you view it is the default green and it doesn't matter how many times you change the colour, it doesn't change and it stays the same.

Sometimes you can duplicate a chart multiple times until one of them keeps the changes, but that's time consuming and annoying. Has anyone found a solution for this problem or know what causes it?

Thanks for your help.

In release 8.3, the viewer is a separate application from the designer. This can lead to differences in behavior. The separate viewer application is not used in 8.4 and later.

The specific issue that you describe is not familiar. Which browser are you using? Does this problem occur for multiple reports? Were the reports migrated from a 7.x version? How are you opening the viewer? Are you opening a separate browser window or tab? You should switch between the designer and viewer in the same window. If you open them in separate tabs or windows, it can cause unexpected behavior.

Hi. Thanks for the follow up. It seems to be browser independent as well. It does occur in different reports, different computers and even when reports are started from scratch. Most used is google chrome Version 108.0.5359.100 (Official Build) (32-bit). No separate browser or window, it's changing in the same tab. From edit mode, then click to view report and what you had a border on now doesn't have one for some elements. It's just random. Colours are the same, you go and change in edit, then view report and they are the same default colours. Then you open edit mode again and there's no problem, all colours are correct. The colours of chart titles also do that, including bold, italic, and any formatting.

As I said, it seems that redoing what you're missing then duplicating that element sometimes work, but it means reworking them.

This shouldn't be happening. So, there's a good possibility that the software is too outdated and old now?

This is almost certainly resolved in any of the releases that no longer use the separate viewer application. You can contact your SAS account representative for information about upgrading.
