Syntax for creating a character numbered list of variables

Hello there,

I am wondering what the syntax is to create a numbered list of variables that have character values. I have a txt file I'm trying to import with 150 character variables and I don't want to list every single one out in the input statement. However, when I put

input Q1-Q150 $;

The only variable that is character is Q150, all the other ones are numeric. 

What is the correct way to do this?
