I want to connect teradata from PC SAS 9.2. I have tried the the following two methods:

1)libname tst TERADATA server=XXX user=XXX password=XXX;

ERROR: The TERADATA engine cannot be found.

ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.

2) proc sql;

CONNECT TO TERADATA AS TERA

(Server = XXX Schema = XXX user = xxx pwd = xxx mode=teradata);

quit;

ERROR: The TERADATA engine cannot be found.

ERROR: A Connection to the TERADATA DBMS is not currently supported, or is not installed at

To connect teradata is there any other step I have to ensure before writing these code?

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

Does your site license SAS Access for Teradata?

post the outout of proc setinit; run;

As the message implies, are you sure that SAS/ACCESS to Teradata is installed?

Later on, you need the Teradata client, which more or less their ODBC driver.

If after doing a PROC SETINIT you have SAS/ACCESS to Teradata installed - I used to connect to teradata this way where UPPERCASE are required and lowercase are my names.

LIBNAME tst TERADATA TDPID="10.2.123.456" USER=myuserid PASSWORD=mypassword SCHEMA=dbschema;
