Naming variables of transposed table

proc transpose data=exercise_mean out=t_exercise_mean;
	by Treatment;
run;

I generated a data set through above code. But I would like to rename 2nd and 3rd variable to, say apple, pear respectively.

This works, if I recall correctly.

name=apple out=t_exercise_mean(rename=col1=pear)

pear works, but apple doesn't appear. ...

may be I can drop label!
