Hello,

I am new SAS and still learning, I have a set of IDS and I need to add a leading character to only ones that do not start with other prefix.

In other words, I have a data like this and I want it to be:

1                                  samplnew-1

2                                  samplnew-2

3                                  samplnew-3

4                                  samplnew-4

sampl-1                          sampl-1

sampl-2                          sampl-2

sampl-3                          sampl-3

sampl-4                          sampl-4

Thank you

You can use ANYALPHA() to test for the presence of any alphabetical categories within an IF/THEN statement.
