This is a really important project. I recently read an article about the Stop Alzheimer Foundation that has awarded a record amount of 5 million euros to 23 projects that research the disease. The projects focus on new therapies and better diagnostics, among other things.

The need for better and faster detection of Alzheimer is growing. In Belgium, an estimated 200,000 people live with dementia, about 60 to 70 percent of whom have Alzheimer.  By 2040, the number of Belgians with dementia could rise to more than 300,000. And I guess in other countries the same trend shows. Without breakthroughs in early detection and care, Alzheimer risks becoming one of the biggest health challenges of the coming decades.

Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common form of dementia - and dementia is the UK’s leading cause of death, and a significant proportion of people estimated to be living with the condition still have no formal di....

The result is a hidden backlog, where warning signs exist in plain sight for sufferers whose cases may not yet have triggered timely specialist assessment. Hence the potential significance of this work by the DementAI team from Katalyze Data, if it can lead to significantly earlier diagnoses and intervention.

The situation will be similar in many other countries - including Belgium as Gracy points out in her comment.

I know the team have had discussions about running some pilot programmes in the healthcare sector, so it will be exciting to see where this leads.
