Also, a few years ago I visited the Dallas World Aquarium. Right at first I thought it was too expensive for what I saw, but then the aquarium kept spiraling down. It was great and well worth the money. You want a few hours to spare though.
Your visit to Dallas is not complete without a tour at the Southfork Ranch.
I'll be visiting the book depository and the aquarium sounds nice...
If anyone has knowledge about great mexican food I'd be very interested. I'm thinking hole in the wall, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" kind of places that the locals pilgrimage to...
I'll be staying in Chicago for a few days efter the SGF before going home to Sweden so the same goes for there.
if you want muy autentico, Herrera's at 2853 W Illinois Ave, Dallas, TX 75233 (NOT Herrera's Cafe or Cafe Herrera on Lamar) is the place. There are a ton of taco places (El Tiz, Gordos, Fuel City, etc...) that are awesome but for Tex-Mex, Herrera's can't be beat.
My Personal Favorite Mexican Food Places:
Mi Cocina
Uncle Julio's
Blue Mesa Grill
Velvet Taco
Joe T. Garcia
Los Vaquero's
La Familia
Reunion Tower is pretty amazing - there's both a cafe/bar (Cloud Nine) and a Wolfgang Puck revolving restaurant (Five SIxty) at the top. Dallas Bites runs a bunch of food tours that are fun as well.
Any good suggestions for vegetarian restaurants in the land of the steak house? ☹ ☹ ☹

Check out Kalachandji's, http://www.kalachandjis.com/, (it's close to downtown). There's also Cosmic Cafe in uptown (http://www.cosmiccafedallas.com/index.php) and, if you make it north to Addison, definitely check out Loving Hut (https://lovinghut.us/addison/) at 14925 Midway Rd #102, Addison, TX 75001.
For anyone thinking about going to Six Flags, it will be open on Saturday all day and on Sunday till 6. It isn't open the during the week since it is off season. I personally love theme parks and I am pretty bummed I won't have time to squeeze a trip into Six Flags this time around.
That's what the QUAD is for. BETTER than a theme park, at least imho!!

@TomKari I love that quote! You should tweet that with #SASGF. 🙂
Loving all of the ideas of thinks to do and the restaurant names. I had no idea there was some much to do in Dallas! I wish I had more time now. Will try and fit as much in as possible.
