Does anyone have any recommendations for any reference materials books etc.  Going thru the tutorial is kind of slow.  Would like to read ahead and be more prepared

Thanks

Little SAS Book is the definitive guide. Other than that, search for whatever topic you want on lexjansen.com and you'll find tons of user written (quality varies) papers on almost every topic.

For foundation knowledge - Base SAS prep guide (extensive but good in long term )

                                             Advanced SAS programming prep guide.

Quick go through - The little SAS book

The Prep guides are available from SAS publishing, Amazon and many libraries have digital copies available. I think Safari Tech/O'Reilly did have it once upon a time, not sure about right now.
